In this new Craigslist game we will be two very similar cars against each other, one restored and one that needs some work, to see which one is the more desirable purchase. I'm think of doing these two or three times a week, if people like it. Today we have two late 60's Convertibles in the ring.
Starting with the restore option we have this 1967 Pontiac Bonneville. There is a good deal of rust, including holes in the floor and truck and it has no drivetrain. But on the other hand it has a Saf-T-Track rear end, which according to the seller is a rare find on these cars. !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!!
Price: $1,500
With the restored option we have another 1967 Pontiac Bonneville. This car, in normal Craigslist fashion has little description, but from what it does say there is a 428 Big Block engine and looks to be a very solid car. But that is pretty much it. !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!!
Price: $18000
So, restore or restored?

Maybe I'm looking for to much of a logical approach. But still restore with rust holes and no drivetrain?

Restomod, there's not much left in it to persuade me to restore it so I'd rather turn it into a comfy cruiser with a fuel-injected engine.

Restore. $18 large is a bit. I believe I could do it for a lot less.

Restore, and mod along the way.
Throw in a Pontiac 400 (the 428 is too undersquare for me, I want revs, dammit!) aftermarket EFI, ITBs, 4-wheel good quality disc brakes, IRS converstion, coilovers and sway bars, nice fat tires and turn it into a scary, vicious road killer.
....leave the rust holes as is.

Hasnt been scrapped yet so it is still worth saving. When it folds in half then it is lost. Until then it can be saved with time, money, and love.
