Was looking at E60 M5s on cars.com and the picture above one popped up. Things wrong with this picture are as follows, but not limited to:
Finger in front of the lens
Someone else's fingers in the bottom of the shot
Very young looking driver
Car in motion? Sort of looks blurry
Just some thoughts. Good for the lad if that's his V10 BMW, but I prefer to believe that my pre-owned ///M was owned by a nice older bearded gentleman.
To be fair, there were a couple more shots of the car, but neither were particularly good.
This one looks like a cameraphone shot at dusk:
And this one was taken in the shadow of some trees:
I will be continuing on to the next available E60.

I can't tell if I'd want the E39 or the E60.
E39: V8, 6-speed only, Looks amazing
E60: V10, SMG, ugly
I can't decide!!!

And then there was this one , from a dealership of some sort with an amazing write-up.
CHECK THIS OUT!!!! 2006 BMW M5... CLEAN CARFAX... NO ACCIDENTS... FULLY SERVICED... $15,000 IN UPGRADES... RARE COLOR COMBO... ALL CARBON FIBER ... MUST SEE IN PERSON TO APPRECIATE... CALL TODAY!!!!!! The tach steadily marches up past 7000 rpm, 7100, 7200... When it reaches 7400, the speed limiter quietly steps in and holds us comfortably, almost leisurely, at 155 mph . Freed of its electronic tethers, the 2006 BMW M5 would be capable of supercar numbers, topping out at nearly 200 mph. This, from a midsize sedan with four doors and none of the wings, scoops, flares or carbon-fiber bits normally associated with such vision-blurring speed. How does the M5 do it? How else? Horsepower: 507 to be exact, generated by a silky-smooth 5.0-liter V-10 that loves to rev (redline is 8200 rpm) and, when combined with BMW's third-generation 7-speed sequential M gearbox (SMG), serves up instant acceleration with the flick of a steering-wheel-mounted paddle. Yet like the V-8-powered car it replaces, this fourth-generation M5 effortlessly blends sports-car performance with commuter-car comfort. This is an extremely rare find, it is guaranteed to be the only one of it's kind. With so many upgrades I can't even begin to list them on here. I can however tell you that there is NO engine mods, everything done was purely cosmetic. Heck, why would you mess with perfection. Cars like this only come around once every few years, don't miss your chance if you are currently in the market, or plan to be in the next few months. The time is now!!!

E60s have grown on me. At first I thought they were so ugly, but now I like them.

The E36 has done the same to me - I used to hate them but now I secretly lust after a nice E36 M3.

Same here. Mostly because V10! But the look has grown on me quite a bit over the years.

I'd want the E39. I see it like this:
E39=Omega Speedmaster: Tasteful, timeless design, goes well with anything, good legacy
E60=TW STEEL: Big, gaudy, blingy, ugly

I can't tell whether the SMG is a positive or negative in your view, but after driving both a manual E39 M5 and E60 M5 a few years back I bought the E39 and it remains the best car I've ever owned in many ways.

I'd say the SMG is a positive, as I hear it's performance is great except for around-town driving.

I think it's terrible. The DCT is much better.

Unfortunately I've never had the experience of driving either of the two. I've also heard the DCT is terrible for parking.
