Portions of the Wellington or "Wimpy" were done in wood: primary construction was on an aluminum lattice, with wood and fabric done over.

The Mosquito is my fave plane of all time, we had old casting molds for parts up on shelves in my high school from when they used the schools shop to train machinists for wartime production.
