On Saturday morning, my friends and I met up horrendously early and ran a 5K. Not just any 5K, mind you, but the Ridiculous Obstacle Course (ROC) Challenge. Teams wear costumes ranging from nostalgic to wacky, and swing over mud pits, launch down slip n' slides, run across tightropes, and the like. There's a fair amount of running too, obviously. And there's much beer waiting at the finish line.

Clearly, the theme we went for was Nickelodeon's Double Dare. I pray you all aren't too young to remember that show. Anyway, ROC comes to most major metro areas, so if it sounds like it's your bag, I highly recommend it! Much fun (and drinking!).

Yep. And survived the 9-mile mountain hike yesterday, too. My calves are crazy sore.

I was there, 2pm heat (both in time and temperature, the sun finally came out during my run).

It was a lot of fun, although standing in line for some of the obstacles kind of sucked, but that was the same deal with the Merrell Down and Dirty mud run I did a few weeks ago. They do their best to stagger the participants, but in the end it still takes awhile. I almost made it past the wrecking ball, one came swinging at me 90% of the way across and I cannonballed into the water. Definitely a great time, all should try it out!

I'm digging the double dare shirts. And yes, many are too young to remember.
