So my 05 Legacy GT blew the 2.5 Turbo motor and instead of rebuilding I figured I would do something out of the ordinary. Fitting an LS2/LQ4 6.0L Motor backed by a CTS-V 6SPD T56 and using an Infiniti Q45 Rear End

So, the AWD is gone, if you're switching the rear end?

Yep converted to RWD, no space to setup this motor in AWD config.

Yeah, I wonder if you would be able to hook the ls2 up to the existing AWD system, or was the original engine mounted transversely?

That'd be an epic sleeper if you can muffle the rumble enough (or maybe manipulate it to sound like a boxer engine at idle)!

That is the most casual announcement ever. That's absolutely amazing. I need one in my life. Someday...

AND you're using the best (read: my favorite) generation of Legacy, and the basis of one of my favorite cars (the '05 Legacy GT Limited). This is world class. The stuff of legend.

Room enough for a V10.

That is amazing, please keep us up to date. I guess there will be a lot of metal work to be done to make it RWD.

Great choice of Legacy too, I love the 2005 design.

Thanks, I love the car and love trying fun new things. Also have another 05 LGT limited that I bought that needs some love but will be fixed soon.

We will setup a resonator and muffler setup that does not kill the power but keep it fairly quiet.

There is room as we moved the motor back as far as possible but once accessories are on it gets fairly tight. The way the motor sits now give us just enough space to clear the fans and we are using LS3 CTS-V accessories which are very close to the block

Will be like those 2-stage exhausts used on Vettes and Astons? Quiet mode and loud mode?

Thanks, We built a custom subframe to fit it and custom steering rack mounts. Also, a custom transmission mount and the rear cradle has been modified to accept the larger rear end

The previous engine was mounted in the same manner but this engine has been moved back about 8 inches so the point where the old axles went into the transmission is where the oil pan sits now. There is not a simple way to keep it AWD

It will not be as fancy as those but it will have electronic cutouts that will be manually activated to start

I figured I would put a 3.6L H6 in my '05 Garnet Red Pearl Legacy GT, if the EJ255 blew.

This is another way to go. Lots of fab work, I imagine.

The 3.6L would be a fun swap as well. Our swap includes a custom subframe, custom trans mounts, and modified rear diff mounts

Only 5 sets of 4 Rota Torques in 18x8 were special ordered in Hyper Silver. Normally 18x8 is not available in that color, only the 17" versions.

I take it emissions aren't picky about putting older engines in to newer cars in your area. That's a no-go in Denver.

Need to attach a TBSS oil pan and diff to keep the AWD, but you might also need the TBSS transfer case also.

They aren't that great in a car solution, I was looking at the CAD to place into a muscle car type build. The T case was far lower than any other point of the drivetrain. So dumb.

Can't keep it AWD? Obviously you need to lift it and go 4WD instead. Bonus points for locking diffs.

What kind of engine mounting are you using? The brackets that are bolted to the engine look like they are “stock” for some vehicle and then they bolt to a type of rubber “biscuit”. After that it looks like you have fabricated a sub-frame attached to the unibody. That type of engine bracket and “biscuit” would help in putting LS engines in many different vehicles because the “biscuit” is horizontal. Thanks!
