My 1999 Pontiac Grand Prix GTP just reached a very big point in her life where she will decide whether she will grow up to be a nice reliable car that I will reference for years to come, or whether she will begin to degrade and fade into history as just another car I owned.

Wow, an American car with the gear indicator on the dash. Usually they're too cheap to do that! Especially GM!!!

She's got everything, even a HUD!

How have I never seen that?! Now I'll never look at airbags the same way.

Does it have an electronic limiter or something? That speedo ends remarkably early.

I've always looked at airbags as so srs. They don't fuck around.

Congrats on your car making this far. Mine just went past 222,222 a few months back.

Congrats! My 89 Camry died at exactly 222,222 miles. Very weird the way that happened.

I figured it's just that this was GM in the late 90s, realizing that you'd have to be crazy to attempt further than that.

Yeah, I was hoping to get the trip to read 222.2, but forgot to reset it in time. What happened to the Camry?

Frozen spark plug became unfrozen and led to a very sad clunky fire.

Oh, I'd be willing to bet it'll make it to 300k. You just won't know, because the speedometer will have failed long before then.

Judging by an old Bonneville I used to have, probably degrade. Not in a mechanical sense but everything seemed to deteriorate. Sooo much rust. Interior sublimation. That 3800 and that transmission seemed to want to last forever. I sold it at 170k miles. Last I heard it blew a rod a year later. I'm assuming the new owner didn't touch the oil at all.

That's a shame because the engines are nearly indestructible.

Nice! My Firebird just ticked over to 175,000.
