I've been debating doing this to my car (97k on it) but I've heard they get bad again a lot faster. Do you know if this is true at all or am I just making up stuff to be lazy?

They do, but it depends on how you do it. I've heard of people just sanding them down, and that's where they run into trouble, but I've also heard where people sand them down and then coat them with clear coat or something like that and it seems to last longer. But simply by the very nature of it being a coating instead of simply the plastic, it may wear down sooner.

I'm not really one to ask anyway as all of my cars have glass headlights.

The key is the cutting/polishing stage. The longer and more thorough you are the better the result. I spent about 3-4 hours on each light.

Holy thats a lot of time .... I think I'll just be lazy and put it off for longer then.

I made a post back in May about restoring the headlights on my Odyssey. Somebody replied that following up with a sealant will help make the restoration last longer. I didn't take that step, but it sounds like a good idea.
