My friend from college moved there and I need a darn vacation (only took 1 of my 13 days so far this year). So I thought I'd go see how he's living and enjoy some HOT weather, haha. This summer in Michigan hasn't been all that great. He bought us diamondback tickets for Friday night, that should be fun! I also have some other friends to visit there so it should be a fun weekend!

Have a good trip. My mom used to live in PHX, and then Green Valley. GV was pretty nice, but having been to and driven through PHX, my biggest question is this: Back in the days of westward expansion, who was the first moron who got to AZ and said, "Let's live here!"?

If you have a chance, hike the trail to Piestewa Peak (formerly called Squaw Peak). Only took me a couple hours, the cacti are enormous, and the views are breathtaking! And bring sunscreen and water if you go, of course.

Phx is in a valley and surrounded by mountains. I can understand if the first settlers reached there late in the year and settled there. But after their 1st summer, why they didn't run for the hills north of the city is beyond me! Its a bloody cauldron each summer.

Obviously, there was water. And the air quality 150 years ago was certainly much better. But still....

Good to know! I am definitely a foodie! We'll see how much I'll experience though, because my friend is the anti-foodie. He never cooks and eats a lot of quick meals/fast food.

Here's a quick list of great places, friends don't let friends eat shitty food!
Richardson's of New Mexico/The Rokerij $$
Beckett's Table $$
The Vig (I like the uptown location) $$
America's Taco Shop (your friend will probably know this one and approve) $
Pizzeria Bianco $$
Gallo Blanco $
Matt's Big Breakfast $
*$ ratings are my own. Most of these are in downtown Phoenix/central corridor. Don't let anyone convince you that Scottsdale is the place to be. The "clubs" are there, but all the good restaurants are in Phoenix.
