!!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! I really want a 944 Turbo. My Audi is still more of a handful than I want to deal with. And the 944 is something I can wrench myself and would also be a nice whip. But on the other hand I don't have the money for a good 944 and I am just starting a 7.50 and hour job. Help me out oppo

A 944 turbo will eat you alive in repairs. Those cars weren't reliable 25 years ago... get one to celebrate when you get your raise to $30 an hour.

It's great that you can wrench on your cars yourself, and you'll find out you can often times own car that on paper you shouldn't be able to afford. But as of right now, 7.50 an hour will get eaten up pretty fast on an old German sports car. Parts ain't cheap. Save up and get one in a few years.

I'll leave it at this:

I make over three times that, and even I'd be thinking twice about buying a 944 Turbo.

$7.50/hour? 944 Turbo? Don't even think about it. (And this is coming from the guy that posted this only a few short hours ago)

The 01 A4 isn't exactly cheap to maintain either haha, but you're majorly right

If you're dying for a 944, yea, I'd avoid the Turbo and aim for a regular aspirated S2 - one was featured today in the NPOCP on Jalopnik.

But if you "don't have the money for a good 944" I can totally understand, but you should save until you can get a nice one (enthusiast owned, near stock, with service records). Otherwise, if you want a car now, lower your aim and choose something else.

Not sure where you are, but here you go.

The Audi 5 cylinder: bulletproof when maintained properly, great exhaust note.

I suggest audifans.com, since almost anyone trying to sell a 5cyl lists it there before anywhere else.

Here's a nice Audi 90 20v for $1900

My A4 has the 4 cylinder turbo, and that's an amazing engine.

What on earth can you do to a 1.8t to break it? The one I had in our Wolfsburg survived me, and I'm insanely hard on cars.
