Vintage Weekend at Road America has come and gone...about two weeks ago. Nonetheless, I was there to take as many pictures as I could, and because I'm such a stellar guy I thought I would share some Jaaaaaaag porn with you all.

Kinja'd!!! Kinja'd!!!

I'll start off with something simple. An E-Type Coupe is no strange sight to you or me, but it was a well kept sample that wasn't being raced or shown off in the concours event. This was just a well loved classic car being driven around.

One of the best parts about Vintage Weekend at Road America is the parade of race cars through Downtown Elkhart Lake, WI. The sound of hundreds of race cars with their performance exhaust and high revving engines is truly intoxicating. After the parade the race cars are parked along the street for people to gawk at. This XKJ-5 was refreshing in a place where Lola T70's were a dime a dozen.

If staring at countless E-Type straight sixes has taught me anything, it's that some of us have both inner beauty AND outer beauty.

Kinja'd!!! Kinja'd!!!

Once again, this Jaguar Mark 10 is just an example of somebody's well loved classic that was not raced or shown off in the concours d'elegance.

This beast is a SS Cars Ltd 100. While it technically is not a Jaguar, SS Cars became Jaguar after WWII for reasons I feel like I should not have to explain. Okay, so it's also technically not a Jaguar because it's a replica, but it's a fine one. I spent some time talking to the owner's friend about all the meticulous detail work done to make it as authentic as possible, using as many original parts that could be scrounged up and even having a spot on replica oil filter cover made. What isn't so authentic is the straight six from an E-Type underneath the aluminum bonnet; however it seems to be the proper choice for this Jaaaag replica.

Here is yet another E-Type, but I wanted to include it because this is a good representation of the Jag racing cars you will see at Road America's Vintage Weekend, sprinting through all fourteen turns.

Finally, this was an image that put a smile on my face. It's nice to see an example of a dream car of mine, parked next to an example of a car I own and love.

Stay tuned for more HAWK posts in the future. In the meantime, if you're interested in seeing more, !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!!

That must be an awesome sight to see all those cars parade through town.

This should give you an idea but you can't even begin to imagine the absolutely earth shattering sound of all those twin cams, straight sixes, V8's, V12's, et cetera.

I can just imagine that sound. Audio orgasms.

I got to drive around Elkhart Lake track when I attended the 90th anniversary of Harley. So painfully slow, IMO.

Plus side, saw a ZZ Top concert in Milwaukee. They really put on a good show.

Nice, I have yet to drive the actual track, but Road America was once an actual road course. There are markers up to show the actual turns in the original course and I've just driven that loop multiple times for the hell of it.

This was my first year I went to Vintage Weekend, and it was a fantastic time. I was only there on Sunday, but I'm hoping to get up there for the parade next year. I only have cell phone pictures since I went up there on a whim and my real camera was dead, sadly.

I knew a guy who was racing his Corvette, so it was cool to hang out in the paddock and see everything up close.

I haven't been to any other races than the vintage races at RA, so I don't know how often people get to go into the paddock at other races at other tracks, but I love that you pretty much get full access at RA. Also the variety is stunning. Don't like Alain Prost's F1 car? Fine, there's a 1920's Ford Racer the next paddock over.

RA is known for being really awesome about access to the paddock for fans. I went to ALMS last year, and it was very similar. They keep you a little further away from the cars, obv, but you can still walk around just about everywhere. I got within about 5 feet of Patrick Dempsey, which was a high point. Walking along the back side of pit lane, where you can see the spotters tents was my favorite part.
