I thought my eyesight had gotten slightly worse over time, odd thing was it happened to coincide with me switching monitors at work. This new monitor did not have the best picture quality and I spend a lot of time behind it. So I changed monitors again, to a Dell IPS. I feel my eyesight in general has gotten better again. Is this possible, or am high on some random-thought-tangent-placebo-effect situation?

Staring at computer screens is bad for your eyes, period. Maybe the new one is less-bad than the old one?

It could be the monitor or placebo, but generally most (if not all) eye strain from viewing monitors/tvs will reverse itself and not cause permanent damage.

To combat eye strain follow the rule of 20's.

Every 20 minutes focus on something 20 feet away for 20 seconds.

I've been doing this for about a year now, and have fewer headaches due to eye strain.

That's my reasoning. Sounds like I need an eInk (like a Kindle) monitor, haha.

ah right on, thanks for the tips. I noticed I was getting headaches from the cheap/old/bad monitor. I am no longer getting them with this monitor. I get up from my desk quite frequently so looking at things further away should occur naturally.

I was pretty pissed when my eyesight got worse. I am glad that it might be on the mend, haha. I'll see if I can read traffic signs and license plates sooner/from farther away again, on my way home.
