Make: Pontiac
Model: Trans Am
Engine: A really big one! (Though if i had to guess, it's a highly modified 7.5 litre Pontiac V8)
Transmission: Manual
BHP: Enough to do this to your face
Weight: Taking a guess at 4500 lbs
Special modifications: A really cool nitrous type system (you can see it in the trailer below)! A massive engine! Too much stuff to list!
Most famous for: Being the only actual car (the rest are hovercrafts) competing in a sci-fi futuristic version of death race! Having an engine the size of a small building! Being involved in one of the most beautifully animated films of all time!

Awesome! Hey, not to be that guy, but it looks closer to a early 2nd gen (probably 1972) Camaro than any iteration of the 2nd gen trans am.

Don't forget the second version in the later half of the movie. It's more Jalop than before. How? It's got a TURBINE FUSION IDONTKNOWITSAWESOME engine attached on the back and a FIFTH WHEEL ON THE NOSE . That fifth wheel allowed it to do a wheel stand ON THE NOSE OF THE CAR while driving through an exploding minefield . It's still got a V8 as noted by the 8 zoomie pipes and during the first part of the big race, it's got a big-bore muscle-car soundtrack. However...
It transforms into a V8 and rocket/turbine-powered trike. Also, it now sounds like an Indycar/F1 high-reving V8. Variable displacement V8 technology? Awesome.
Also, it transforms again into a pure rocket powered by an explosion, epic.

Wow it really does look like a z28! I agree with you. But according to the movie, it's a trans am.

There's also the TailEnders OVA which has the same art style and premise around racing. Good stuff.

It's on youtube, search Redline Anime and look for the video that's over an hour long. Better hurry, it might disappear again.

1980 Chevy Camaro Hugger Z28
Just change up the grill, some other things here-n-there, and copy the stripes from JP’s Trans AM 20,000 and at that point, looks wise, you will have your own “ Trans AM 20,000 ” to have fun with.

Well one thing i know is the name of the second engine is a (T)RZ airmaster with 35,000 hp as stated by frisbee also yes it sounds like an f1 car so it must rev high and it must be what i would do which is split two parts the actual engine which is high reving adding somewhere near 2000 hp and can definitely exceed that maybe and some after burners or jet engines or rockets somewhere within that. Also it makes sense he would use a regular fast engine in his car and the the second part takes over in the straights which would be one or two compact rocket engines or jet engines of some kind which is not unheard of even in real life also sense they are more reliable considering methanol engines are not it would make sense to go for those instead
