It looks like I am the only one in my office that is going to bother coming in to work today, which means I am free to listen to music without bothering anyone! Is anyone else here a massive fan of Tiny Desk Concerts? There are so many great ones, I can listen to them all day long without repeating anything.

I was first drawn to them by The xx's "performance" there. Really neat idea and a lot of good performers.

Absolutely nailed the Tiny Desk atmosphere, if only mostly because of Glenn Kotche's awesome office-supply drumset.

I love Tiny Desk Concerts. They really show you the talent artists have when they can play stripped-down versions of their songs and make them sound just as good, or in a lot of cases even better, than the studio versions.

I've been enjoying these for a while, they are a great way to be introduced to some rather random musicians/bands without having to troll the music forums or attend dirty hippy festivals.

The one by Adele is epic. I did prefer when they did more long form concerts though. I always perceived the Tiny Desk Concerts as a capitulation for budget issues or to satisfy the record labels.

I suspect you are right about the record labels wanting them to be shorter. I don't really mind the current setup where they typically only play three songs, it is short and sweet and the quality of the performance and production is usually outstanding.

Agreed. Many times I am shocked by how well they strip the songs down, and by the production quality they are able to get just in the corner of an office.

They are really fantastic, both for finding new bands and for hearing fantastic live versions of songs from groups you already like.
