Getting the Miata early this year was something, but getting rid of the 7 was my top achievement. I didn't have the heart to continue the project nor to get rid of it. I grew some cojones and did it. It took a shit load of kicks to the butt to do it tho. I'm now Rotaryless....
So oppo, what was your biggest achievement?

Successfully driving my Porsche 944 from Nashville to Denver and up Pikes Peak and through the Rocky Mountains then back to Nashville in the middle of the summer.
It killed my starter, which I had to have replaced, but it was an absolute trip. I loved it. It certainly felt like an accomplishment—especially for the car's trip up Pikes Peak.

Violently ended a long term relationship
Only to replace it a more expensive relationship. Hopefully this one will last longer though.

Kept my 18 years old Fiat alive in one of the most hostile environments known to cars, Brazil. Despite a clutch failure, fender bender, daily use, bad roads, bad fuel, bad water, bad air, and bad roads again, I successfully used it as a Daily Driver and kept it in one piece while doing so.
I immediately added a Pearl Jam alive keyring to keys when the school year was done

Biggest Achievement: Getting a 4.0 GPA
Biggest Jalop Achievement: n/a.
Sadly, my jalop life has been rather empty because of a lack of funds, because I've been saving. Hopefully for this year, I can either get a project car, or go to a junkyard, and pull an engine to fix up and modify, then find a car to put that engine in.

It could. Remember to back off when she tells you that she doesn't like it. Go easy on her and remember that asking that much of her may turn her into a bit of a diva. You'll definitely need to show your appreciation through maintenance fit for a lady.

So many to choose from.....
Bought a 77 T/A project car.
Moved into a house with a garage (so I can buy project cars)
Traded my truck for a FWD 4-door with a V6 and a manual trans, but is still sensible and gets 30MPG (except when its balls ass cold out like now)
Hired a great guy to work under me. He knows his shit and is great with the "customers". (wow that sounds dirty)
Can't think of any more off the top of my head, but it's nice to think about these after how shitty the past month has been.

I learned how to walk again!
Everything is fine now, except one little thing. In rehab they taught me the old people/handicapped way to get into a car. Which was nice as that meant being able to drive again after over two months. Plant your butt on the seat and then swing both legs into the car. For some reason, I am still doing that. Dunno why! I guess I somehow forgot how I did that before my accident.

I have a few here is a quick list
Learned how to drive manual before I turned 20.
Started amateur racing.
Installed my own exhaust and bought my first mods!
Went to my first vintage race, and what a race it was!
Won my first SCCA event
Now on to the not so car related stuff!!
Quit Pharmacy and decided to become an engineer!
Made a few friends, which is amazing cause I never talk to anyone
Opened up and joined a few clubs at school
That's it really.
Lost 30lbs over the summer!
Things that need to be done next year.
Lose another 10 to 20 lbs to get back to my perfect weight
Get a girlfriend. . .
To say the least, this has been a great year! Technically these all aren't the biggest, but I am super proud of myself, so I have to tell someone!!!!

Achievements: Rebuilt my first engine, did my first engine swap, made gear head friends, and I've made it through half of my senior year in high school.
Anti-achievements: currently am experiencing the hells known as the paint shop, got in a small accident that caused $8000 in damage to our Volvo, was single for the entire year.

I really want a 240z, but the problem is that the ones in my area are either rusted to hell (like the body has deteriorated) or they've been restored already. I want something where the body isn't super rusted, but it isn't restored.
I want to put an ls engine in it. Yeah, you heard me.
Also, what the fuck did I just watch.

Some crazy thing I saw back in 2007 when I was searching like crazy for 240zs lol. FC's will be cheap to get and is perfect for an engine swap. Miatas....they are nice but you'll hate it if you're a highway cruiser, hate noise, hate having a harsh ride. Other than that they are perfect. 240sx still got the drift tax on them and you wont get one in great condition under 5000$ unless you're lucky. An e36 M3 would be nice! Get some good contacts for BMW parts tho. Get a Cressida, swap it Manual and put a 1/2JZ. It would be sick...but yea it's not a coupe.

Valve cover gaskets on the Tahoe. Just pop off the covers and drop in the new gaskets, right? Nope. Had to take half the damn engine apart, which was pretty sketchy due to my marginal (at best) mechanicking skills. Got em changed out though.

Not a bad car. Pretty solid especially with a diesel engine from what I've heard. But parts wise...it could turn expensive. The only reason why I said to get a 2 seater, is to not turn into "the taxi". That's what happens when you're the guy that first gets it's license and car while the friends don't and ask for rides. If you can handle it then go ahead with the MB. It's a good choice but save a good 1000-2000$ for emergency repairs.

I don't know man. I have a K5 Blazer and I can take that 350 apart and put her back together in my sleep. Crazy how much difference 10 years can make. That said, every GM seems like one of those big wooden children's puzzles compared to a BMW.
Pabuuu, JDM car enthusiast & Italian parts hoarder
> RotaryLover
01/03/2014 at 07:15 | 0 |
Haven't thought of that, but I'm not too worried about becoming ''the taxi'', because with this new law, I need an experienced driver (at least 27 years old, at least 5 years license) next to me until 18.
The Mercedes is not a diesel, because diesel oldtimers have to pay full price in road tax, (some emission bullshit..) petrol cars are much cheaper.
I think (and hope...) parts are not a big problem, because I live in Europe, right next to Germany, so these cars were pretty popular.
Thanks for the advice!
