My kit for next week; just picked up a new Rode lapel iPhone mic and a new DSLR capable triple suction mount for my trip out to CA next week. And of course my trusty (only remaining) GoPro and Samsung NX300.
The other piece to the puzzle is my 2014 A4 2.0T rental with UNLIMITED MILEAGE!! Oh yes, there will be canyon exploration.

What areas are you driving? I did a 1000 mile loop near SF, hitting areas like Yosemite, Lake Tahoe, Carson City..

Palm Springs area. I've mapped out a couple fun looking roads but suggestions are surely welcome

You can probably hit 101 during the weekday, when there isnt too much traffic I guess but dont really know too many good roads around LA. Here is the route I did earlier in the year.
