Kinja'd!!!

Maybe not the American auto industry's brightest moment but at least we had a sense of irony.

Funny how the tables have turned since then:

Things were different then.
That's not nearly as bad as 1970s Ford comparing the Grenada (U.S. spec) to a Merc 280se.

Get off my lawn!

Chrysler did have a sense of humor in the 80s. Besides, that Imperial looks like a Frankencar, where two very different cars are fused together at the B pillar.

AWD AMG CLA is brutal, not a Cinnamon by any standards.

I'll give the AMG one a pass, but I'm just not a fan of the CLA with its fwd and frumpy lines. It's not 80s GM levels of awful but I think Mercedes as a brand really started going downhill sometime in the 90s

I've always thought the same thing but about the C pillar. It's as if they were working on a roofline and then just sort of gave up and drew a 90 degree angle that was incongruous with the rest of the car

There are many differing opinions as to when Mercedes went downhill. Some think it was 2001/02 when they lost all of their squared off style and were in the middle of their "partnership" with chrysler.

Some think it was in the early 90's with the biodegradable harnesses and the death of the w124.

I'm enjoying some of their forward motions, it's better than they were, but they still make some questionable choices.

Some think it was the introduction of the W201 when they started to cheap out and go down market.
