My wife and I had to put our dog to sleep today. She was about to turn 14 and has been in my wifes life almost forever. I spent the majority of the day crying.

Put Bella down a few weeks back. I'd had her almost my whole life and couldn't remember life without her. My advice, get a new dog. We waited a whole week before getting a new dog and she's been a blast. She's no Bella, but she's a dog, and she's a good one, so she'll do.

I know that feels dude. My Sophomore year of college I came home for Thanksgiving and didn't notice until the next day that our 13-year-old dog wasn't around, apparently no one remembered to let me know they put her down a month and a half before. Rest of day was spent mourning.

I'm sorry to hear that. If you have dogs, this is a regular unfortunate occurrence. My Vincent actually passed this spring from bladder cancer. Your dog lived a full life and I'm sure a great one in your care. We on Oppo know how you and your wife feel. Hang in there.
