My son got a GoPro hero 3+ silver for Christmas . I know there are a lot of GoPro users here , so I was wondering , what are some good memory cards to use . I read they can be sensitive to lower-spec cards . what cards do you use ?

From GoPro's website: "For HERO3 Silver and White Editions, any class 10 microSD cards can be used, including SanDisk Ultra and Lexar."

More on memory cards

And this might be helpful for choosing a size... I used to have an 8GB card in my Hero3 White, it could record an hour of 1080p. Now I have a 64GB card and it's good for nine hours of the same resolution. Keep in mind though, the Hero3's battery is said to be good for around two hours of filming (however there are boosted battery packs you can buy and I'll admit to not knowing what the Hero3+ is).

yeah , I read the GoPro website , but I also read a lot of reviews talking about recordings that stop after a few minutes due to the card , so I thought some feedback from actual users would help . thanks for your help .

I use a SanDisk Ultra 64 GB. I think it's class 10+, never has given me any trouble in my Hero 3s. I also have a few 32 GB cars that are misc brands but all class 10. I actually only buy micros and use adapters to run them in my old Hero 2s.

The Ultra 64 is my favorite in my 3s. Here's a link:

I use a Sandisk Ultra 32s in my Hero2, never had a problem. Haven't seen a need to upgrade to a Hero3 yet.

I know a lot of people like SanDisk, but I've had two SanDisk cards die on me. I now use Samsung Pro cards, they are supposed to be ruggedised, and they are crazy fast.

I use a samsung 16gb microsdhc 10 speed and u1. Like 30 bucks at frys (frys.com) and get the opteka 2000 mah battery off eBay. It's worth the 10 bucks. It has literally KILLER battery life. Even better than the Wasabi ones and waaaaaaaay better than the stock ones

And a lot of the samsung ones are really tough and waterproof. So if your gopro goes unprotected in the water, at least your memory card works

This. I use the same one, inexpensive, and excellent speed. Its a class U1 (for ultra high speed, faster than class 10)

Remember to upgrade the gopro firmware too !
