When you buy a truck, and want to use it for a truck, it seems like everything is a grand or better. New bumper? A grand. sliders? A grand. and on and on. Then there is the maintenance: 3 differentials, a transfer case, a huge engine sump, 4 u-joints, birfield sumps, rust issues, interior issues...on and on. Im not complaining, I got a cheap(ish) off roader with limited issues and runs perfectly well as a DD and trail truck but man...it gets tiring. Have a thing for your troubles.

Which is why I don't understand how brand new 2014 pick up trucks even make it off the lot. If you use the pick up truck for REAL work, it's going to go to shit in a few months (hauling lumber, bricks, gravel, animals etc on the bed). I'd be perfectly fine using an older pick up for real work.

That's why people who typically have real work trucks: A) don't change anything on them and just use them or B) fabricate most of what they need in their shop. A lot of people who "need" trucks really just want trucks, but want them to cast the same as vans or cars.

does this apply for SUVs as well?

Fleet leasing/sales. It's easier for a business to guarantee that it will cost x dollars per month vs a used truck which may be cheap but could be unreliable and expensive to be constantly repairing.

I mean, it doesn't get much better for smaller cars either. New Fiesta ST Bumper? a grand. new Fiesta ST hatch? A grand. Labor for installing and repainting those two parts? a grand each.

Hi, Sway bars here for Welders,
Tired of paying out the ass for stuff you can make yourself with no experience and a medium sized up front cost, then look no further. Want to go rock crawling and need sliders, Make em' , need to reinforce that steering box, weld that bitch. Want to bounce your rig off of oak trees in the middle of the woods MAKE your very own BIG ASS MUTHERFUCKIN Bumper, all with your friend the WELDER!
Even this Crazy broad can do it !!!!
Not sure how to use one. ITS freaking EASY, that thing doesn't need to look pretty your going to hit it with rocks anyways, all you have to worry about is proper Penetration ( Thats what she said), good wattage and keeping your booger welds from making your machinist neighbor puke. A little time and some scrap metal and you'll be making roll cages and tire carriers in no time.
Next time you need to Clime that rock wall or navigate that Obsticle And you think " I could sure use that 7 million dollar OZ select able locker right now" , just remember WELDERS!!!!!
From the makers of Torches!!, Die Grinder !@#, Band Saw !@#!@ and Plasma Fucking Cutter!!!!!!!

Hmm I guess that would be it. But wouldn't most of the stuff that you'd ruin on a leased pickup truck for let's say construction work not be covered by warranty like suspension, dents, scratches etc? Wouldn't the company have to pay out the ass when returning the leased vehicle because the vehicle was beat up?

Grand for sliders!?! Holy crap that's rediculios, easier if you just fab it. Cheaper too. I feel your pain on the maintenance...
Also I'd look into second hand stuff, just sandblast and repaint. You won't know the difference.
I thought your Series 80 didn't have rust problems ;)

In those cases it would be a fleet purchase. And IIRC cars for businesses are typically an item that can be a write-off to a degree on taxes through some loophole, so the cost isn't as big of a deal.

Just make sure that if you are going to weld your diff you do it properly. Like this one. There will be absolutely no slippage going on with this baby.

Because after beating/using the shit out of these you don't want someone who previously did the same. People complain about the parts labor/cost to fix issues but for a business the secondary cost is then the downtime/lost work from truck being down.

even carbon fiber would start to rust in Utah and our salt happy plows.

Look on www.kbb.com and compare the 5year cost of ownership. F-250 as the same price as a TL. I always get a kick out of how many guys drive around in a large pickup that's rarely used she they could be driving around in a nice luxury car.

Bumper for my Benz SLK AMG was $1800. Just to replace that and fix the dent in the trunk someone put in it when someone else rear-ended him ran $4500. Same job, non-AMG parts was 1800 total, less than half.
