Motorsports, the ultimate test for men and machine, was the source of many great innovations.
So, what's next?
Having the car's computer connected to the driver's brain?
Nuclear powered engines ?
Have your say.

Hybrids and electrics to push battery technology.

Very small, very powerful engines.
And Safety. I think the number of deaths and injuries at the top level of racing will continue to decrease dramatically.

I think we're still quite a ways off from mind controlled cars but I definitely think more drivers could get their start in realistic racing simulators like iRacing after seeing some pretty good results from Nissan's GT Academy. As far as the cars go I think definitely big developments in hybrid and electric power applications.

I think within my lifetime, "Formula Unmanned" will be A Thing. Car design rules will be streamlined and minimized, and the most restrictive laws governing limits of performance will be the laws of physics. There may be virtual reality remote human drivers, pure computer drivers, or hybrid human-computer drivers, perhaps all running together like LMPs and GTs in endurance races.

Hydrogen power. There was supposed to be a hydrogen powered car at Le Mans this year, but it didn't make it. There is actually no evidence that it ever existed, though. When they announced the Garage 56 project they showed a picture of an odd looking car at Le Mans, but it's much easier to design a fantasy car with no engine or interior than it is to actually make the car go.

Probably some aero part that will bring tons of DF without compromising cooling. I'm expecting to see even more engine failures in F1 because of cooling.

I think they should go to remote controlled NASCAR race cars.
Put all the drivers in the same press box as all the media.
