This is how all speedometers should be.

I've often thought something similar would help give cues for rev-matching but I've never committed myself to designing one.

On a related note, the '83 Rabbit I drove didn't have a tach, so VW put 1-, 2- and 3-dot indicators on the speedo for the red line of each gear.

Clever. I wondered why they only had these dots for the first three gears until I remembered my '91 Golf, with a four speed manual and a tach. It wouldn't redline in fourth, and believe me I've tried. On the German Autobahn, so it was perfectly legal. 151 on the GPS was the highest speed it reached without an incline, if I recall correctly.

I'd have to modify the color scheme before putting it on my Miata, IYKWIM.

I don't think sharing someone else's funny/clever photo is exactly a new concept. ;)

This strikes me as putting more effort in a temporary solution than what would be needed for a permanent fix..

Also, 65 in second and 95 in third? Gee that's a gap in the gearing...

Why wasn't this considered an option? I'm pretty sure most speedometers tend to malfunction sooner or later..

The more I look at this, the more I am impressed.

It's a good tool for matching revs to your speed.
