First blog post!
So the last time a girl crapped on my heart was right when I was getting ready to do the timing belt in my Subaru, Perfect this will be an ideal distraction for my brain!
So I went to Subaru to pick up the parts, and they had to order them so it would be next week until they were in (it was Saturday) I was restless as a fox and content not to do nothing all day, so I heard an add on the radio for an audio shop having a sale. So I went, and dropped 800 Canadian dollars on a 600 watt amp and 10" sub in a sealed box and wiring kit and spent the rest of that Saturday in the garage installing the amp and mounting the box and running all the wires properly and everything.
Now I'm a humble truck tech apprentice with a lot of better things to spend my money on like a tool box that's not falling apart or tools that are not from Canadian tire or sears, And I still had to pay for the timing belt stuff a few days later, another 800 dollars, This was in October and I'm still trying to get my credit card balance in check. And all the guys at work think I'm an idiot.
Sometimes I think it was a stupid thing to
spend money on, and then I get in my car and instantly have no regrets, sounds
awesome! And I'm not sure about you but music has always been a safe place for
me to relax and feel good. Now I'm squandering spare cash to save up for
new front speakers and another amp.
So what have you done, bought, installed on a whim or without much thought or
on a whim?

I don't think I've ever bought anything because I was being emotional.

Oh this is a fun one for me...
I bought a $7,000 motorcycle, then spent $1,500 on new gear. As I didnt have a class M license yet and this purchase was in the winter, I then went on to spend another $5,000 on heads, cams, valves, intake, TB, etc. etc. for my Mustang of the time.
It was a very expensive February...

I wish I had room for a discrete small sub in my car. My seats don't even have enough room underneath them for a good amp and I WILL NOT use up my cargo space for a box. But thats just me.

I try to never buy anything for my car based on emotion... but it's really hard to do when it does something to make me mad or something is just really cool. I actually just completely built a car because it made me mad. Sure, it was something I was working on planning out, but pulling the trigger was driven by anger at the !@#@%@*#^&@ transmission. So far it's over a year under development and there are far more parts bought than I can count.

I agree with you on the cargo space, the box I have is the kind of thing you would see behind the seat of a pickup truck, it's not very big, I have it strapped to a cargo ring I bolted to the back of the trunk passenger compartment pass through door so it wouldn't get tossed around while I was subaruing it up,
I still have lots of cargo room, I chose that box because it's sealed, I wanted a sealed box because I listen to everything from dub step to jazz and punk and bluegrass and wanted sound quality over booming bass, And I did not want to lose the ability to load up with gear and head up north in the summer without changing anything.
and audison amps are supposed to be pretty much bullet (read environment proof) apparently there made to run really hot, and there body is a huge aluminum heat sink, says the sales guy I talked to,
I like to think I made a really good emotional purchase; I got pretty much what I think I would have if I had shopped around and done a bunch of research.

All i need is 200-300 watts and 8 inches just to round out the sound. I don't even have room for that. Sucks.

What are you driving? this stuff I have is made for a pickup truck, I have a 100 ft extension cord a tarp winter gear, boots, tools and all sorts of stuff in my trunk right now. you can get powered sub's that have the amp built into the sub box, there usually a 8 inch sub sized thing, and since it's a sub you can mount it anywhere, I was thinking about mounting mine to the backside of the parcel tray in the trunk but when with under the passenger seat for ease of wiring,
if you really enjoy music, DO IT!

Problem is there is no space under either front seat (aux heater on one side, ECU under the other) and the middle seats don't have any space underneath and the back is just a big blank cave...and I need that cave

1. Awesome landcruiser!
2. Pull some of that plastic side molding off the inside of the back and put it in there, you can get open air sub's that mount like normal speakers, and amp's have gotten small and can be hidden easily.

Thanks! The dog's name is Fidel. I had bought my ex a pug years ago and when we split I really missed the dog. It was fair for her to keep it cause it was at her place 98% of the time so it was really her dog and not mine. After being bummed for a while I got Fidel thinking he would be like the pug. But he wasn't. He was like a pug on steroids. Strong like a bulldog and hyper like a terrier. That's why I gave him the name of a dictator, haha.
The M3 I got while emotional about a girl is an E90 sedan

I had to sacrifice some space in my extended cab to put my 2X12" (I was in high school and thought I needed it..) in. What I did was make a box that was downward firing, and the center of my box is a storage unit. Sounds amazing and takes up a ton of space. It looks really nice after I had it padded and wrapped in vinyl. Good luck to any thief that figures out it is there, because the seats need to be removed to pull it out. I also installed 2 Hella floodlights that I retrofitted with HIDs'. Do I go offroading at night enough to justify them? Nope. Though I do love having them.
This is with the rock covers on, so they are MUCH brighter with them off.
