When I was in elementary school in Oklahoma we had a day that went from 104 to less than freezing. What a freaking disaster.

Those western plains know no rules. S. Dak, E. Wyoming all the way down. Would bizarre be a good word?

Yeah, the worst was that they canceled school early because it was starting to snow and bused us all home. We were all dressed in summer clothes. They dropped us off and my mom didn't get home for two or so more hours and the house was locked. I had to go around knocking on neighbors houses until I finally found someone to let me and my 6 year old brother in so we wouldn't freeze to death.

I don't remember a whole lot about that day....but every few years the trees would all pop due to big temp changes. Sounded like gunshots going off.

The only thing I've experienced similar to that was on an RV trip. Left Reno and its 104 degree weather to arrive at Crater Lake 7 or so hours later in near white out snow conditions. We could barely see where we were going.

Sounds like typical high plains weather to me...

Ah yes. Two days ago it was almost winter, and today I had to wade to the store. Yay Houston!
