I am seriously considering this as my third or fourth Christmas gift to myself.

I just want to know if it's realistically possible to play this with a gamepad. Games like Live For Speed and what not aren't because they don't have any compensation for the highly limited range of motion that the thumbstick offers. Console games do this well for obvious reasons. It really looks good though.

Ah, I would be buying to use exclusively with the wheel. I have GT6 for the gamepad... Which controller do you use?

For some strange reason back when GRID 1 came out I decided I wanted an Microsoft Xbox 360 for Windows controller instead of a Logitech or some other offering. It turned out to be a smart move, since it's compats with my 360 and one of my 360 controllers broke.
I've never been able to shell out the money for an expensive wheel, particularly because I just don't play enough racing games on the PC. Part of that is because I play Forza and I would want a wheel that's cross platform compatible (F—- M$ for that). I probably would play MORE PC racing games IF I had a wheel.
Edit: Okay, so it does have a speed sensitive steering feature for gamepads. That's good. Racing games that don't have it are pretty much unplayable.

Ah, I see. That's usually more difficult to work with than the others.

It does have gamepad support in the settings. I use my G27 though so i wouldn't be able to tell you how well controllers would work.

There's a program I'm experienced with that allows you to use the controller on a larger variety of applications with greater customizability. I forget the name, but you can emulate a mouse and keyboard with it, or make macros, what have you.

We got it about 3 weeks ago. Have to dial in the settings, but the sound and graphics are amazing.
