Last night we got a whole lot of freezing rain here in Madison. It turned my Jeep into a glazed donut. A donut glazed with ice.
The pic above is how much of my windshield I was able to clear after about 10 minutes of furiously chipping away at the ice. You can also see my lame attempt to clear the driver's window.
For frame of reference, here's how thick the ice was...mmm 4x4 badge-sicle.

We got that in Utah, which is weird; Then it snowed 8 inches. It made for some interesting driving conditions I can tell you, I worked from home.

And people in fair weather parts of the country wonder why heated mirrors and strips at the bottom of the windshield are optional on some vehicles.
This is why.

I was above the line for freezing rain. Kinda. Got a bit of ice, but mostly snow on my car this morning.

I've got heated mirrors actually. Those and the rear windshield were the only parts I got fully cleared!

I've been dealing with this for 2 weeks now.....Snow followed by just enough rain to freeze everything over. My front walkway is made of paving stones.....You know how long it takes for ice to melt off of those? Hint: It doesn't. While it melted off of all blacktop and concrete, there I was chipping the almost inch thick sheet of the paving stones.....

We got rain yesterday here in San Diego. It was horrible. Everything was all wet and my traction control kept kicking in. I think the temperature got into the 50s and I had to bundle up in a thin sweater.

Yeah, here in NC, the temp got all the way down into the 50s this morning, I had to put on a hoodie to keep from freezing to death!

Good call on the hoodie. Don't want to die of exposure.

I actually wore a hoodie and a waterproof shell over it today. The high is 28 F...that's warm enough I don't need my super bulky wool peacoat.

It rained here in L.A. HARD.....for about 10 minutes. Had to use my wipers during lunch to get the drops off my windshield.

Don't be so pedantic. You're like 0.25" from the arctic circle.

The roads a little south and east of you were a blast to drive on this morning too!
