It's not often that I'm invited to anything interesting anymore. It's not often that I'm invited to anything at all. My recent time commitment to Oppo has left me completely devoid of friends. Thanks guys. That all being said I did get outside this week. After the few minutes of being blinded by this "sun" thing, I made my way to meeting a few friends and heading out to Summit Point, West Virginia. For those of you that may be from far off lands such as Mongolia, South Africa, and Florida; it's a neat little track about a little over an hour away from Washington, DC. and home to Stasis Revo Group. The folks over at SRG were kind enough to sponsor our regional VW car club, NovaDubs, and have a few of us over for a day around their facility and the track.

Stasis, as some of you already may know, is a pretty well respected hardware manufacturer in the Audi scene. So well respected that Audi will even honor warranty claims despite the presence of their aftermarket parts. They've merged with Revo, a tuner in the VW/Ford market, as well as Eurojet, a VW hardware manufacturer, to form SRG. All very fun introductory stuff. I swear, it gets more exciting! Anyway, we arrived there to have a catback exhaust and Stage I tune installed on our friend's 2.0T Q5. This would usually involve sitting around a lobby, thumbing through ancient Perfomance VW magazines, and watching a loop of the Fast and the Furious for a few hours. Luckily, the folks over at Stasis aren't the usual local performance shop.

We were given a tour of the facility, from the waiting room, to the shop itself, the offices, parts warehouse, and so on. Here's some photos that better describe the entire place!

That last photo contains the lovely Revo Stage III GTI, putting out around 340hp and 360ft/lbs of torque. Lovely. Paired with a set of Alcon big brakes to stop it all. I'm gushing over the thing. To sweeten the whole deal, we even got some track time in this very car. Of course we weren't trusted to hoon this thing about the track... To be quite honest, I didn't trust myself either. Luckily they had their test driver scoot us along the track. Quickly. Terrifyingly for the first thirty or so seconds. As we're being thrown back and forth he's selling me on the Stage III kit and asking me questions on my own car. I didn't know whether to be impressed or disconcerted that someone could hold a conversation while flinging this car at speeds that made my stomach none too happy. Needless to say though, it was incredibly rad to ride shotgun to someone who really knew what they were doing.

We even managed to slap our club sticker on the back of the thing.

And here's a video of it all in action.

All in all it was a great day, and my friend really enjoyed the results of his tune and hardware!

Not anymore I think.

I only frequent Audizine, but the forums are becoming less friendly towards the issues that crop up with Stasis tunes more and more. I've even read that some dealerships flat out kicked Stasis out and are distancing themselves, hell AoA has been much more aggressive in voiding powertrain warranties and shifting all risk to Stasis/Revo. And yea, that voiding powertrain warranty is 100% legal in the face of the MM Acts in the US.

It's a fun course for sure and about as local as tracks get around here, unfortunately.

Other than a few cars, what exactly do they have at Stasis? The shop/garage doesn't seem to have much of the equipment needed for a major tuning company. I've seen backyard operations with more resources. Seems like Stasis is in utter shambles after the "acquisition" of REVO as well as Eurojet. The financials of the company are also highly after taking a look at their questionable share-selling scheme as well as their relationship with a convicted money launderer.

Exactly! Their main selling point is the warranty they offer on their parts packages, however that has come under criticism and doubt over the past few years after Audi publicly disavowed any association with Stasis and essentially prevented Audi dealerships from running Stasis cars through Audi warranty. What's even worse is that with the advent of TD1 (modified vehicle, powertrain warranty void) flagging in the Audi systems, every single Stasis equipped vehicle that is sold by a dealership is automatically flagged with the TD1 in the system before it is sold.

Depends on which one and what you drive.. Shenandoah is a blast in smaller/well handling cars (i.e. Miata) and it's a GREAT learning track.. though as a track.. it's paved as a road.. so it has a crown and is poorly cambered.. but can still be a complete blast.

Summit Main is faster, better paved, and solid.. it's used for a fair amount of events/racing/etc and is much less technical than Shenny.

Jefferson is a tiny education only "track" though they are in the process of extending it.
