Cars that were not equipped with ABS/TCS (or other nannies) from the factory come with it anyways. As well as cars that were only available in manual can be driven in automatic.

The biggest pet peeve is that it's not available for PC

It's in most non-simulation racing games as a way to help novices play. Not sure about I-Racing or Live for Speed but I know for sure Forza 3 and Horizon had TC and stuff for 60's muscle cars.

Gran Turismo positives #1

Letting you drive a manual in a car that only came in automatics.

Well, at least the automatics don't shift until they get to red line. Unless they changed that for GT6.

I've got a lot pet peeves. Near the top of my list is their tuning system. Like you said, features that didn't exist on old cars suddenly do. Like ECU tunes, ABS, adaptive steering etc. Who decides if I can supercharge or turbocharge my car? Why does a turbo kit for an AZ-1 cost the same as a turbo kit for McLaren? Or why do any parts cost the same for vastly different cars. It should not cost nearly 100k to get a 600hp Camaro.

And the Japanese bias. I understand why they would use RHD interiors for JDM, UK, and Australian cars. But why use RHD on cars native to LHD countries? I don't need every iteration of Miata, GTR, Civic etc. just to outnumber Forza's car list. It seems GT6 car list includes some more interesting non-JDM cars though.

That being said, I still enjoy GT5 a lot. But I'm waiting for the price to come down and include free DLC before I buy GT6.

same can be said for Forza too.

It kinda makes sense to have those bits for people who are just doing it to kill time or for fun.

for RHD cars native to LHD countries, that would be because they'd get as much modelling done in Japan as possible to keep the costs low, and they would not have easy access to the original LHD version.

I figured that. But how much does it really cost to borrow a few cars for a bit? It's not like they were exotics. The ones I remember from GT5 were Alfas and the 500. And the Mustang GT in GT5 had some weird rear fog lamps(?) and side markers(?) as if it was a Euro-spec car.

Or... make a model based off of a RHD car, then... wait for it... Mirror the dash and door panels, and just make sure all logos, text, and button placements are in the proper spatial organization.

I'm sure they'd be happy to do it if you hire more staff for them so they could do it on time and under budget, cause that's all what it would come down to.

Tonnes of the Japanese imported Mustangs have the rear fog lights but they're wired up as indicators instead. They may not be legally able to have indicators and brake lights sharing a bulb.

I don't see how it would add that much more time to mirror the shell of the dash. The center stack/console can stay in place if it's a symetrical dash, if not rearrange it based on photos. Move the steering column and gauge cluster over. Move the side view mirror controls. I don't know what software they are using to model the cars, but mirroring 3d objects has never been a super difficult operation in the programs I've used in the past. It might even take longer to do in Photoshop.

how long do you think it will take to do it? and how many cars need it? and what if the LHD car has a different cluster layout to the RHD version? how much do we pay 3d modellers?

it's obvious they're already short of time when there's still hundreds of cars without a proper interior at all.

If I were to guess, I would guess an intern can easily mirror the appropriate items in one days work.

I see where you're coming from, but it would be very low on PD's priority list for constructive things their low paid 3D modellers can do.

At least you can turn off the ABS etc.

The manual auto thing is irritating, especially when you drive a car with 7spd dual clutch and you're limited to six. Also you're stuck with whatever animation they picked auto vs paddle vs stick.

Woah. I never thought about either of these things until right now. Maybe just because I always drive with ABS off and in manual mode....can you imagine only being able to drive in auto mode on the appropriate cars? F that

Do PC guys want gt6 for car selection? Aren't PC sims a lot better? I'm a long time player of every gt game and am a good chunk of the way done with gt6, just never bothered with a PC game because of lack of hardware.
