Can I just buy one aftermarket part for the XJ40 that fits?

Apparently not. This is a set of £200 silencer substitute pipes, offered up against the pipes they're supposed to substitute. There's a good 10" difference between them.

I've sent an email to the company that made them, so I'll see if they redeem themselves. If not, then I reckon I can chop off some of the old mild steel pipe and weld it onto the pipe at the other end.

The 'shop that supplied me my wrong shaped power steering hose was very courteous and sent me a NOS one free of charge once I sent some pictures to them of where it fouled on the bodywork. We'll see if this company is the same (they'll remain nameless until this is sorted)

Needless to say, if they act like dicks about it then I shan't be buying from them again.

Always with the XJ40's. I have more parts lying around for them that didnt fit, even Jag OE from the dealer.
