Might be a bit on the late side..
Winamp has said that their site is being shut down, after 15 years of service. If you want it from their site, download it by December 20th (about 2 days from now).

I use to love Winamp and their skins. Unfortunately I-tunes is a necessity when you own an I-pod (I know it could support it, but it didn't work after updates or just wasn't as easy). Also VLC player came in is completely free, really lite and plays all kinds of files too.

First time I tried it out, I dumped Sonique like a hot potato. Much smaller RAM usage, and 'sane' skinning restraints. Don't get me wrong, some Sonique skinners were damn neat, but some were quite alien from the UI experience point of view.

I still use it to this day, but for music only. VLC for video. Winamp is light and easy, with little to no bloat ware. I haven't downloaded a new version in ages though, there was no need.

This brings back memories from my childhood. The first thing I'd download on any PC was Winamp, but then came iTunes which became a necessity, because iPod
