So pretty. Do you know: was the Comanche unibody or framed?

The XJ and MJ have a uniframe, which is basically a frame with the cab welded on as one. The MJ just carries the frame from the back of the cab with the removable bed.

So its built like an XJ, but with cab separation. I wonder how these uniframes are holding up these days? I have a friend with a 93 XJ he wheels and he can't open the back doors anymore because of frame twist.

Framed , Uniframe and Unibody vehicles all twist while wheeling, The problem with The uni's is when the frame twists everything else twists. Depending on how hard you wheel depends on the effects on the uniframe. A good rule of thumb is if you are lifting over 4 inches and plan on doing any rock crawling you want to stiffen the frame rails. That was one of the first things I did, I also mounted the rock rails to the stiffeners for extra support. Even then though I still had a hard time opening the rear hatch after my first few really hard core wheeling trips, but at the same time I wasn't exactly taking it easy on my truck either.

yeah, thats the trouble, the frame twists and the body twists and over time, alignments get off, but you;ve made good recommendations. Not been a problem on my cruiser.

usually the only thing it ever really caused a problem with for me was opening the rear hatch. The other doors and wheel alignment were never an issue. and this was after hitting an obsticle so hard I broke the main spring on one of the rear leafs.
