This will be my last scheduled post, and I'm just going to give a quick rundown of first flights that occured this year
The Airbus A350-XWB: Airbus's answer to the Boeing 787, this efficient long range widebody aircraft first flew on June 14th of this year
Bombardier C-Series: Bombardiers entry into the narrow body medium range passenger jet market. Also marks a big step forward in the use of geared turbofans to maximize engine efficiency. First flight was September 16th of this year
Textron AirLand Scorpion: This tactical strike/surveillance jet made its first flight last Thursday, December 12th, the culmination of a 2 year development
There were other firsts this year, and more firsts will surely come next year. Aviation has truly come a long way in the last 110 years, and it's not stopping anytime soon. I'm excited to be a part of it, and I hope you have enjoyed these few articles celebrating the 110th anniversary of that flight in North Carolina that started it all
