I just poured my heart out into running the Red Bull X2010 at the WoodGood Festival of Hyperspeed. (GT6 award spoiler after the jump)
It took me an hour to do the damn course successfully in under 31 seconds (gold target) and for some reason, I'm pissed that being rewarded with a Citroen GT made it all better.
I don't have a steering wheel set up, I play strictly with a controller...so there lies the difficulty.

uh...controllers are easier. esp the redbull car. trust me. the auto centering steering makes cars soo much more easy to drive. so there is that.

That took me quite awhile as well. Starting in 4th seemed to help me.

I spent more time and money on the MR Madrid race than I care to admit, for having still not beat it. Threw all sorts of mods at the 91 NSX I got as a prize car. Nothing. Got in the LCC Rocket, detuned to 500pp...nothing. I kept track of overall times, I shaved well over 5 seconds off of my total time....and the damn AI shaved off just as much time. Never have I been more frustrated at a relatively simple race on a damn video game.

I started in first, and right before the rapid acceleration came, I'd switch to second up to 4th. What always got me in the beginning was the rapid quick turn in. I had trouble turning a slight bit later. Once I got past that it was just managing avoiding the hay stacks when turning left. It was the turn-in that always killed me, or lack thereof. Had to find that sweet mid-point for turning input.
