For those of you constantly droning on about Subaru "losing their way", sorry, but Subaru never made pretty cars. They've always looked liked Toyotas, with very few exceptions like the horrifyingly ugly hawk-eye Impreza, the Baja, and the BRAT.

Don't get me wrong. I love Subaru, but we have to stop looking at the past through rose tinted glasses.

Yes, the concept was very pretty, very striking, but it was just that — a concept. It was always going to be based off an Impreza. There's no way a company as small as Subaru was going to produce a bespoke sports sedan and still manage to sell it under $30k.

We have this same argument anytime a new WRX is released into the wild. It's months of initial bitching and moaning, acceptance, appreciation, and then we're right back to square one once the next car is out.

Now, if we want to bitch about the exclusion of UELs on this next generation, we can tango. You can take your more consistent power-band and 3 extra horse power from the new twin scroll turbo charger and shove it. I want my rumble!

I remember mistaking Imprezas for Corollas back in the 90's, and the other way around as well. Just proves the point that you never buy a Subaru because of the design, but because of the abilities they have in extreme conditions.

Actually both the Impreza and Legacy looked substantially more aggressive than the equivalent Toyotas back in the day. Plus, the Toyota of 1993 couldn't be further from the Toyota of 2013.
