Oppo's seem starved for auto content today. Here's one I was holding back. + Rare US car NCOCP

Spotted smack in the middle of the garage like it owns the mother at Watkins Glen Vintag Gran prix. Also not exactly priceless as infinitely rare. Auction houses would have it between $600-700k...

Some History: Siata ( Societa Italiana Auto Trasformazioni Accessori in English Italian Car Transformation Accessories Company ), was an Italian tuning shop turned automaker founded in 1926 by amateur racecar driver Giorgio Ambrosini. Originally a Fiat aftermarket performance and racing outfit, after WW2 they began producing their own cars under the Siata name.

The lightwight alloy chassis is of a "coke bottle" configuration and lightweight Stabilimenti Farina Berlinetta coachwork in all aluminum. Unfortunately it is not known who exactly penned the body design but after Stabilimenti closed, Balbo would complete the rest of the cars to a similar spec. It featured far advanced design standards for the time like mechanically retractable headlights and ultra light and low coachwork construction. The Coke bottle shape of oval tubing that curved the chassis at the ends allowed Siata to place the bucket seats on the alloy floorpan between the chassis tubes, enabling a low and beautiful roofline and additional weight savings.

It is powered by a Siata Modified Otto Vu , Fiat's 70 degree ohv 2 liter alloy "8V" (Ford copywrighted V8) with dual twin downdraft Webr carbs going through a four speed. The rearend was a three point suspended alloy differential with unequal length alloy A Arms all around giving the 208 superior handling at events like the Mille Miglia. Actually, Siata tested the 8v 11 days before it debut at the Torino Auto Show at the Giro di Sicilia race.

The design blew up its debut at the Torino Motor show with industry titans and heads of state swooning over it including Prince Ranier of Monaco. This one bounced back & forth from Italy to the US a couple times , competed in a few gentlemen's rallies such as the Targa Florio then was reworked back at the factory before they folded in the 70's for civilian use.

Speaking of another Fiat I never posted, also saw this gem at a back lot show that same Vintage GP weekend.

Reminds me, while I was there I saw this Defender FS near the concourse for $36k, 56k miles I think, is that decent for US bound defenders?

My want for a TVR is greater and the only North American ones not in the DuPont Registry are in Canada, but damn...

That Siata is an unicorn in the purest sense of the word. Also, LOL @ anyone selling a Griffith for $64,000. I've seen a Chimaera for sale in my country for €22,000 (around $30,000 possibly), so a Griffith should be just a tiny bit more than that.

Yeah I would have to agree because any other TVR for sale around that vintage even far earlier I've seen on this continent never seem to stray below 30k or much above 40. I would be just dandy with a Chimera I also saw on there. Lovely just the right amount of curves
