The death of Holden presumably means the death of the Chevrolet Caprice PPV. Will GM move Caprice production to North America? Will GM make another pursuit variant of the Impala? Will GM only offer the Tahoe and once again forfeit the pursuit sedan market to Ford?

I don't think they're selling that well to begin with so...... yes?

:(

Though one reason for poor sales is local statutes requiring the purchase of police vehicles built in North America.

I think GM will continue to produce a full size RWD sedan after holdens demise. It will just be produced in the US instead of Australia. It's already been confirmed that the next Camaro will be on the Alpha (Cadillac ATS) chassis. I don't think that Camaro/ATS will be the only instance of chassis sharing between the two divisions.

They can shipping tooling and assembly lines elsewhere. They have a number of idle plants. That Zeta platform is basically at the end of it's life anyways. The plus-size Alpha that the CTS utilizes will likely be used as the next PPV architecture.

Yup, came here to post just that.

Zeta is on it's way out, Alpha is it's replacement, and an effort to cut a bit of excess weight and size.

Since Holden banks on Zeta, and Alpha would be a major change over, they basically are going to build them somewhere less costly than Australia.

But they say that Holden will likely stay as a sales organization in Australia, so I don't think Holden is going the way of Dead Pontiac, I think they will probably go the way of previous 'Re-badged Pontiac'.

It will probably just be a synonymous re-badge of Chevy and/or Buick models, maybe even an adaptation of ATS as Holden models in Australia, and built in other places.

People are mourning Holden as if it is a dead brand walking... I thought I read that just the manufacturing part is no longer scheduled for Australia after 2017, not that the name brand was going away entirely.

The rumor mill has been saying for a long time that next gen production will move to Canada as Camaro production moves to Detroit.
