It's going to come back painted in orange acrylic house paint.. And when I say painted, what I mean is each of them stood on opposite sides of the car and tossed a can of paint at it.
Expect the front end to be reconditioned with straw/hay bails and the frame will look to have suffered a not so successful jump of a downed bridge over the ol'creek.

Both of them humming "just some good ol boys, never meanin no harm"

No tripping. Not even stumbling. I've got plenty of time in a 68 Charger to know what I'm missing. I am ok with silence instead of engine noise plus MOPAR build quality noise. Even after being restored the thing sounds like it's an old rental/fleet truck.

Did you ever decide if you were going to undercoat? There was a recent thread on ih8mud about different options.

I'm fortunate in that most of my winter driving takes place around lake tahoe California and because of enviro concerns they don't use 2/3 sand 1/3 salt mixtures which are quite a bit more mild.

That's my Cutlass above the Charger. Even unrestored (aside from one repaint), choked by early emissions crap, single exhaust, mushy suspension... it is a much more pleasant drive since your eardrums aren't constantly tortured. You can pay attention to the feel of the car when you're not distracted by noises that shouldn't be there. Even though the Cutlass hasn't been disassembled and put back together and the Charger has, I think that says something about build quality.

Especially on a holiday Friday. Maté and Patrick asked for a route as well, and I normally send people up to the Harriman State Park/Bear Mountain area but...not in the Charger. I told them to do a lap of Manhattan, and maybe cruise through Times Square. Though I did also mention that they'd get completely mobbed in Times Square.

Even though not officially sold here in Europe, there are shitloads of them and as he is a journo he could score one if he search good and ask the proper people. The better anwer would have been a new Challanger or Charger, they are rarer. Or maybe a CTS-V they are kind of unicorns here.

Don't be jealous of me. It's my dad's. I'm the GM guy (above and left). I don't mind the 2nd gen Chargers, but I would have to go all out if I were to get one. HEMI, 4 speed, no pinching pennies, and better than factory attention to detail. And there's a lot of other cars I would get before.

Fair enough. His Challenger is a survivor too so that could explain it. I've yet to drive his Chevelle which has been completely disassembled and the engine rebuilt to 500 hp. I still don't think it would bother me though, haha.

The Port Authority Cops (they manage the Holland, Lincoln, GWB) have been parking there for years. The Classic Car Club HQ used to be my Contractor's field office/staging area for work they were doing on a subway station back in 94' and the cops were there then.
