It's so rare, that I can't find a picture online that matches it's configuration. It was a 2001.5 GLS 1.8t wagon in Indigo Blue Pearl with a grey cloth interior. His had hubcaps, however.

If you contact HQ for any manufacturer they'll give you numbers. My car is one of 400.

Nice! Its always cool to see exactly how many cars came from the factory in the same exact configuration as your/your families cars.

I managed to get a hold of a spreadsheet with all the production numbers for the B5 Passats (except for the W8s)

Mine has a plaque that helps me, its 3743 of 4744 to make it easy. Granted there is some variability in terms of options and colors, but they are mostly the same.

I kind of want to find out now :D But I can only assume that millions of 2000 3.2TLs were silver/black LOL.

I had an '04 B5.5 TDI with the 'red' exterior, tan interior, automatic, sunroof package. Heck of nice car, I really liked it...45 mpg wasn't bad either.

My parents have a 1 of 47 '68 GTO with the XW engine block. My cars aren't as impressive.

We had a silver 2003 Passat GLS 1.8T 5-speed w/ hubcaps. It was fantastic to drive and looked great with tinted windows and ski rack

We really enjoyed ours, too. It was one of the better cars to drive that we have had. Ours had the Tiptronic, which had its controller fail at 8 years old. That was the final straw for us with that vehicle. Ours had the hubcaps, too. We had the worst luck with them. We would loose at least one a year, including one that decided to let go on the PA Turnpike. Eventually, we replaced them all with Jetta hubcaps, which seemed to be better made. I've mentioned the other problems we had with the Passat on here in the past, and the list is quite long. However, I still miss it on occasion. It was a great vehicle despite its problems.
By the way, your configuration of Passat is 1 of 45.

The B5 Passats were great cars. The diverse model lineup made them even better. They are my favorite Passats, and one of my favorite VW products from the past 20 years. They may not have been the most reliable (ours wasn't), but the 1.8t models make up for it in driving fun. I've never been in a TDI version, but 45 mpg sounds nice.
I found the breakdown on all USDM 2004 Passat TDIs in Samoa Red with the Beige interior. These look to be more rare than our Passat was:

No way! Is it 1/45 in N/A or in the USA? And we never lost one hubcap lol! Theres been a lot of issues in ours too, but my dad loved the car so much that he didn't really care spending money on it. We sold it this past August @ 136000 miles. So many road trips with this car though! It will be missed and hard to replace. We were looking for 3series touring but had a better deal on a sedan, which is not bad!

That's in Canada. I saw the Quebec license plate, so I assumed you were in Canada. There were 120 in that configuration in the US.
When we sold ours, we picked up a 2009 Forester. The Forester became my mom's car, and my dad drove our 1999 Camry. We later sold the Camry, and he got himself a 2012 Outback 3.6R.

My parents changed to AWD too. Would have bought an AWD B6 but big engine and 50k new were out of the question (although they're selling for 8k these days).

I wish I had a picture handy.....I once owned a powder blue 73 Ford Maverick with every option available. It had the Luxury Decor option(color matched hubcaps, extra side trim, a 302 with a 3 speed auto floor shift, a vinyl roof, a forced hot air rear defroster, 4 speaker stereo,A/C, super deep shag carpet,PS, PB.
It was a beautiful car..it was only 3 years old when I bought it in 1977....I was 18 years old and I beat the unmerciful shit out of this car. Amazingly, it lasted until I bought my 80 Fairmont.
When I traded it in, almost every body panel had some sort of dent in it, the hood had a hole in it from where a fan blade exited the building, the rear valance panel was flapping in the wind from when I brake checked a 240 Z at 90mph, both quarters, the doors and front fenders were starting to rust and the vinyl roof was peeling.
Not sure how rare it was, but I've never seen another one like it.
