Until yesterday, I'd not known this existed.

Kinja'd!!!

Two tin-engined Sciroccos were to be built, one for evaluation and testing and one for shows and the like. The first one was also built to convince the VW Board of the potential of the car, and it just happened to have 54bhp more than the Audi Sport quattro rally homologation special, which it equalled in acceleration and bettered in top speed, through taller gearing. VW Motorsport and Audi Sport were run as two distinct and separate departments and one detects an element of rivalry between them spurring the VW engineers on, for it was the Audi branch that was getting all the limelight in international rallying.

This is amaze-balls. The thought that a manufacturer (boring old VW at that [flame-suit]) would actually conceive-of, design and build a two-engined car is hilarious and inspiring.

There is only one "Durocco" and it lives in Ohio, I'm flattered that the name has become synonymous with any twin engined car. My brother coined the term in 2005 after an evening of brainstorming, we needed to buy a website to post the build thread for my project and Durocco was the best thing we could come up with.
