It's great to announce my new team as Force India. Coming here was always my first choice and I'm really happy everything has now been confirmed. I want to say thank you to Vijay and the whole team for giving me the opportunity. This is a young team with a lot of determination and they've produced competitive cars for the last few years. It's all change for next season with the new regulations, but I already have a good feeling about 2014. My plan now is to visit the factory and get to know everyone in the team.
Perez
He already has several podium finishes to his name and being chosen by McLaren last year was a clear indication that he is a driver to watch for the future. By pairing Sergio alongside Nico, we enter the new season with an extremely competitive line-up, which will go toward helping us achieve our goals for the new season. This was a mere formality, it's been squared away for a few weeks. Sutil is middling at best and didn't have near the money that Perez brings with him. It's a simple solution: arguably a better driver, equivalent at least, and more money.

How did I miss any news on this? I feel like a terrible f1 fan right now. Does Sutil have any leads?

I think it's safe to say that Sutil is probably out, unless one of the backmarker teams wants to pick him up given that he does apparently bring some sponsorship.
The driver market was getting pretty silly there for a while, so it wouldn't have been difficult to miss information like this.

Sutil is likely done, however his most likely spot is a seat at Sauber. DiResta is in the same position, with Sauber being his most likely bet, although according to an interview I read recently, he's not too optimistic about it...

This pay driver crap is just getting ridiculous. If they want to eat up the backmarkers then that's all well and good, but putting them in serious cars is out right stupid. What's the point of racing if you can't afford to make a driver selection on talent.
I would also like to differentiate between a 'pay driver' like Mag would have been if McLaren had found him a spot on another team back in the field as opposed to 'pay driver' like Maldonado who brings completely unrelated financial backing that is based upon who the driver is/where the driver comes from, etc. instead of "I think this person has what it takes to pilot a F1 car."
