I admire French language movies. This is one of my utmost favorite car movies. One of the best plots as well. It's about a very fast taxi driver and a unlucky police inspector who have to work together in a case involving some very fast, sexy Mercedes. !!! It's NOT the TERRIBLE remake with Jimmy Fallon. !!!! This movie has the perfect balance between a plot and cars. Which make it good. If you watch 2 fast 2 furious, you notice the plot isn't really well developed...a lot more car than plot. Fast 5 and 6 had that perfect balance between a plot and cars.
This movie also shows that (at least the character) is a car enthusiast, to the point I can identify him as a Jalop. In F&F, I'm not sure they ever said about small details else than engine specs and nitro. This is different. There are plots within a plot. It is a movie that will keep you satisfied throughout the day/night and have a level of energy still flowing through you. I first watched the beginning at 1 in the morning. And I was like the Energizer Bunny.
I don't know why Hollywood decided to remake this. Did they smell too much pine-tree car fresheners? If you have seen the Jimmy Fallon one, watch this one. It's better by tons.

I always somewhat preferred the sequel. The opening scene alone is pure gold.

The second one got a Waaayy more futuristic car. But the Germans are quite portrayed as the sick minded in that movie...

Yes, fantastic movie! It has its fair share of craziness, but what I love about it is they show pretty long driving shots. The camera will just stay put and let you take in the cars weaving through traffic and going through turns, instead of switching around every half-second like a it's got ADD.
