Same. I want a pair for my 240d, just so it is completely unstoppable, but I've never had them and I live on steep hill.
He must have had really bald tires or something, but last winter there was a Chevy 4x4 stuck halfway up my hill. Just made my way slowly past him in my GTI.

Where do you live? (I know, I could check it out on the oppo map...)
I once was in the backseat of a 4x4 Suzuki Vitara on all seasons. We spun out in a curve and ended up in a recently cleared area, where a few months before a gas station was. We also spent some time in the other lane, luckily there was no oncoming traffic. The only damage was a bent rim, but the driver decided to rid of the all seasons and get proper winter tires ASAP.
All seasons are fine if you only get a light coating 2-3 days a year. If you live anywhere with real winter, they are just sub-par to real winter tires. They also are worse than summer tires in summer, but this part can be neglected if your are not that much into driving dynamics.

I ran all-seasons for years. Tried snows and loved being able to make easy progress while watching AWD cars struggle. All-seasons=acceptable summer and acceptable winter performance in my expirence, but don't seem to excel at either.

Cincinnati, Ohio. I've got these on my 1996 328i sedan, I just turn off traction control and drive responsibly, never spun out or got stuck.

These are what I have, if you drive right, you don't need winters.

My all seasons are shit, and it can't hurt to have some better tires for the winter.

I've only had one set of tires that was "unusable in the snow" but they were summer/performance tires, couldn't even get enough front-end grip to make a right hand turn from a stop sign around in a RWD car. Check the survey tab on these compared to the link you sent for winter/snow ratings. http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tires.js… Won't lie. Driving like a "normal person" on all seasons usually does the trick. A good set of snows will make you feel like Ken Block though should you decide to play. I find the breakaway to be more progressive and consistent than all seasons. I can manage all seasons easily, but they're nowhere near as fun or confidence inspiring.

To each their own. I once drove a 2wd pickup all winter on all seasons. Took me a while to become a convert.

I saw a Land Rover this morning at a shopping center with bald front tires. It had just started snowing. I didn't take a photo, cause I figure It would be waiting for me in a ditch tomorrow.
I'll take it then.

I saw a Toyota Sequoia do a pirouette, hit a guard rail with it's back bumper, and drive away. This happened on my way home Friday, about 100 yards in front of me.

Actually, almost nobody in Ohio runs snow tires so you should have no trouble keeping up. I work as a tech and see like one car a year with snow tires. I put snows on my Subaru and have a blast in the snow

I put snows on the Camry because I had two free ones (just had to buy to more), my all seasons were worn, and I have a 30 mile ride to work, each way. And live in the burbs, so there's a lot of backroad driving.
But I did run all seasons on my Subaru, because snow tires killed all the fun. That was the first car I ran snows on because it was lowered, and that was when we first moved way out here. I've had 4 RWD cars I drive through winter no problem with all seasons on them when I lived in the city.
Similarly, the wife makes do with all seasons on her CX-9, because AWD. And she works 2 minutes from home in town.

I run snows on my wife's 2007 Outback......pretty much unstoppable as long as you drive like a normal person.

I just make due with RWD and 50/50 weight distribution. Snow and winter tires are completely unnecessary in Cincinnati.

Yeah I felt the same way living in Milwaukee. They'd salt and plow all day long (except my street, but I love on the corner so I only had to drive through snow for 30 feet) so the roads were always... okay. Now that commute into the city, and half my drive is two lane backroads that hardly see a plow or salt until well into the morning.
Plus, being able to blast past AWD/4WD trucks and SUVs on all seasons never gets old.

yup, replaced it last summer and there are no leaks present on it. I'm thinking master? The reservoir was empty so i put fluid into it and opened the nipple on the slave to try and bleed it but it won't bleed. too cold? its like 5 degrees here. Not sure what to do.

Just turn off traction controll if you have it. Take turns easily, be gentle with the gas, minor corrections of the steering and you'll be good to go.

look for areas where the paint is stripping, if it's leaking, you'll see it.

yeah I've found a couple of those but they arent recent. I cant really see below the master without taking the brake master off first. I wanna smack the engineers that designed it this way haha.
Also, I will never complain again about having to work on my car in the california heat after having to lay on the garage floor here in Spokane when its like 7 degrees outside. I'm so cold.
