Do you start braking before you even enter the turn lane, or do you get into the turn lane a bit early and brake there?

If you are in the latter category, congrats! You're doing it right.

The former? You're a fucking asshole and I probably honk at you on a daily basis.

I normally do it right, bu around here, tunr lanes are about three feet long, and usually totally full, so I end up stopping along with traffic in the main lane of travel before being able to move into the turn lane, regardless of speed.

ALSO, same goes for offramps. Turn in IMMEDIATELY, then merge. I never understood how people wait till the last few dashes of line before moving over. Did you not know you were exiting? Doubt it.

What really pisses me off is in those middle turn lanes, the full length ones with no barriers, people stopping at the last second still poking into the driving lanes

the only thing i 'break' is the stuff I throw at cars who dont signal when I pass them.

Same, I always brake in the turn lane unless the turn lane is too short/full of cars/etc….but man that gif, that's pretty much me on a daily basis, I dunno when they stopped teaching you to use your signals, but it's ridiculous

Where possible, the latter. Also, please enter the highway exit ramps at speed. Do not slow down on the interstate before hitting the exit lane.

How about this move...

The left lane cruiser who is driving right lane speed.

You're coming up on them, you flash your lights...no response.

You're probably following to closely...they finally realize their driving a car...break for a second speed up, the pull over to the right lane and give you an annoyed look, like you bothered them!?!

I hate that! HATE!

Jalopnik should start a super pac to fund posters and advertisements getting slow drivers out of the left lane (THE PASSING LANE)

while i am in the latter category, there are these things on the road called "old people", who do it the other way. there are literally millions of them out there and while you may want to educate the public on how turning should be done, you will never EVER get these people to follow! in fact, the older they get, the earlier they'll brake! you may as well be honking at a tree. honking at trees is insane and, ergo, so is honking at cars who do this. THIS WILL NOT CHANGE. It will NEVER improve. you can only hope for self-driving cars, which old people will be afeard of and not use, at all.

Anyhoops, better to drink your coffee after you arrive at work. Will save you a lot of trouble;)

If there is sufficient turning lane to do it properly and safely, I only brake when getting in the turn lane. There are some cases where I have to brake a bit before hand.

I generally hate any person who slows down before exiting their lane, it's stupid most of the time.

The problem is people in general need to realize there are other humans around them, and be aware that they can't be constantly getting in others ways. People are ignorant.

I end up actually passing people still in the right lane while I'm in the exit lane because they were going way too slow for traffic as it was.

Yeah, I understand if it's not possible to do. But where I live in IL, there is plenty of turn lane 99% of the time. Some drivers could really give a shit about people around them. It's ridiculous.

I check my mirrors. If there's nobody behind me, I'll use the extra run up to extend braking distance. If there's anyone even remotely near me I'll save it for the turn lane.

Depending on the turn lane, I get there, mash the throttle and then brake really hard. Usually on an interstate off ramp, but other places as well.

Or when people in the right lane change into the left lane just as you were about to pass them! Then they start driving the exact same speed, below the speed limit, as the guy in the right lane so you can't pass either of them. That happens way too often.
