Jacket/Raincoat recommendations?

This is like when people ask for car recommendations, only less fun.

It needs to have a hood, be water-resistant, and be fairly warm (although I can still stack layers underneath it). Ideally, I'd like pull strings around the bottom or just a plain stretchy bottom. $150ish max.

Basically, let me know if you have any good experiences with jackets that can take a good rain and wind.

Rain protection + some warmth is what I'm looking for. Whatever fits the bill.

I always go to Patagonia or Marmot as default for jackets not for skiing. Patagonia has some good rain pullovers (1/4 zip) or just full zip coats. You have to be careful with your choices to not exceed the $150 limit though. Don't go North Face-overprices as hell and it's all brand. Patagonia, Marmot, Arcteryx, or Mountain Hard Wear.

I stopped recommending people rain jackets. They always ask me what to buy and I tell them a really about the really good deals on lightly used, awesome jackets, and they always go to Walmart and buy whatever fits and is cheap.

Nah I'm down for lightly used awesome jackets. I have used-but-never-worn 90's Columbia snow jacket which is awesome, but it's a tad big and has no hood.
