If they make a wagon, then they can make a Ute pretty easy...

I know someone at GM who might be able to spread the idea, I'll talk to him soon.

Sweet! How cool what that be to grow up and see a wagon and be like "I told them to do that."

* sigh*

Dreams.

Thanks though.

That's how I thought of this!

Less than 0% chance of an SS wagon. CTS-V Wagon's going away, not coming back, cause no one bought it.

Ute's too jalop for the average 'murican, so even smaller chance of getting that. That doesn't mean you can't get one if you really want it. There are ways of making that happen , but driving off a US dealer lot with one isn't gonna be one of those.

No problem... Although, I will say, unfortunately, don't hold your breath... He already told me that for them to consider doing a Ute for the states, they'd need to be sure they'd sell 100,000/year... So... Unless we Ute fans unite, and get more people into utes, the chances are slim.

But don't worry, that won't stop me from floating the idea around.

Well, yeah, I'm definitely not getting my hopes up. A wagon would sell, I bet. They have E63 wagons here.

but the more bought here the more likely it will last longer than 2016.

Buy like 10 of them.

I would probably make money.

1.Somehow legally import them

2.Mark them up $10k

3.Make lots of money

A wagon would sell, if they did it right... One feature of American wagons I haven't seen in a long time, is a rear facing 3rd row of seats that folds flat for storage, like Olds had in the Eighty Eight Wagon... If they'd just make a good wagon, and sell it well in their advertisements, they'd sell on their dealer lots.

The big car manufacturers convinced people that they didn't need a wagon, but did need an SUV... Time to undo that... 90% of SUV owners don't really need an SUV. They'd do just fine with a wagon.

So here's an idea...

Push people who have SUVs that don't really need them to buy a Wagon...
Push people who have Pickups that don't really need a full-size pickup to buy Utes.

Then we'll have wagons and utes in the states.

I think you should be some kind of marketer or something... This sounds pretty smart...I don't know if it would work, but I would love it!

Story about the third row backwards folding seats;
My dad always has 2 cars, and gets a new one every 4-6 months. He doesn't buy new, he buys cheap to sell for a profit. At one point he had an Audi wagon with those seats. The second row was always empty because me (probably between 6-8 years old, and 3 years younger brother) would sit in the third row. We would make a game out of waving to anyone behind us. I still remember the time, in the exact spot of my town too, where we made friends with a guy. He was an older man, probably late 60's or 70's. We waved and he started taking his hands off the wheel to put his thumbs in his ears and made "antlers". He also stuck his tongue out and made us a face. I was way to young to realize that was a safety hazard and we shouldn't have made him do that. Me and my brother could tell you that exact story and the exact spots we waved and all!
R.I.P. Third Row Backwards Seats!
It's probably not safe enough anymore actually.

I also had plenty of fun in those third row seats... I even think I had a similar experience as yours once. Fun times... Plus it was always fun to look out the back of the car... not entirely sure why, but it was.

And as for 3rd row seats not being safe enough... the 2013 Mercedes E-Class Wagon has reverse facing 3rd row seating, so if Mercedes can make it safe, surely other car manufacturers can too.

I'm gonna have to do something with this idea...

You definitely are! Make like a Facebook page or something! If we get enough signatures/likes/followers maybe we can talk someone into it.

I already have a FB page... And now a stand alone website... But as I said, I know someone at GM I can talk to, so I'll have to get in contact with him in the near future.

GM would need to sell more of those than all the German wagon sales in North America combined to make it feasible and it wouldn't be cheap.

Australia is weird because these platforms exist there. Its just cheap to do it.

Apparently retooling for North America is too damn expensive to make it reasonable. Apparently.

I'm sure you could find people willing to pay $90k USD for them.. there's guys in Australia paying more than that to get Mustang GT's
