Now I find it might be easier to do with one of these trailers. However, I'm finding that people are silly: Their used trailer in mediocre shape at best (i.e. needs new brakes, rust removal, painting, etc) and they want as much as a brand new one!

However, if I can avoid spending money on a brand new one, I will. I'm pouring over dealer inventories, but I'm thinking next stop is CL. I need halp finding one!

I live in the Southeast US. Ottawa is a bit far... :)

Oh well, worth a try.

I wish I had an excuse to drive down out of the cold to bring it to you!

Yes...they were nice at the dealer. But you can get a diamond plate steel trailer for 60-75% the cost of aluminium, and only an extra 750-1000lbs GTW.

Even a 1/2 ton Ford will tow 4 tons with brakes on the trailer.

There's an obvious choice there then. My old mid-90s half ton pickup had about 7500 lbs behind it the other day shuffling some things around....would've been fine down the road, had 5000 of those pounds not been on the tongue.

Then you just have to be smart on how you load the trailer :)

If I was smart enough to figure out how to post pictures I'd show why it was loaded that way. The load was a late 50s Dodge medium duty truck - currently a cab and chassis. Short trailer (just loaded so that we could move it around a lot), 6000 lbs of truck, with roughly no weight to the back of it. Sooooo, that plus the trailer made for a bit nose heavy of a load.
