Yesterday !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! to come up with the largest cylinder differentials offered on one particular model of car at any one time. The highest we came up with was a difference of 8 cylinders.

From msatlas:

Yes, in 2011 you could get a 4-cylinder S250 CDI and a V12 S600.

From Ghost Dog:

Audi A8 (current Gen.) is available with a 2.0L 4 cylinder and a 6.3L W12. Does a hybrid count? Difference of 8 cylinders.

From RamblinRover:

Can't believe I didn't think of this one earlier: late Cadillac V-16s (Series 90) were essentially altered versions of the Series 75's platform, which was a V8. That ties the S-class and Audi I4/V12 splits.

Finally from me, Yowen:

The Mercedes SLS, avaliable with 0 cylinders (electric) and a V8

I have a challenge for you to propose!

Largest displacement modern V6.

My vote is the GM 4.3L V6. I was inspired because I was reminded that it was bigger than the Audi 4.2L V8 and was once again mystified by it's gigantic size (and I owned 2 of them, including one that I bored 60 over to make it bigger...)

Ford's Modular 4.6L V6, cleverly marketed as a V8, because there's no fucking way a real V8 would make those terrible power numbers :3

Not a V6, an I6, but CAT produces a 27liter with 1150hp

HOLY BATMAN BBQ!

GMC V6:

The 477.7-cubic-inch (7,828 cc) 478 was one of the largest V6 engines ever built. Gross output was 235 hp (175 kW) at 3200 rpm and 440 lb·ft (597 Nm) at 1400 rpm. Bore was 5.125 in (130.2 mm) and stroke was 3.86 in (98 mm). It was introduced in 1963 in the 6500 series trucks.

Even better, oil capacity vs. engine displacement. Audi 2.7 TT - 6.9 quarts.

Do modified cars count?

This is a Fiat 500 with a Lamborghini V12. A Fiat that is also available with a 2-cylinder engine.

I believe I got to know one of these a few years ago when we had to use one in a gen-set doing some off-site testing of our mining equipment at work
