I was going to say something dumb about it being FWD, but that is quite the beautiful Alfa so I would of immediately regretted it.

This comment has no point.

I'll see myself out.

This specific model of Alfa is easily the most ugly of all the Alfas.

It's Fiat Multipla levels of hideous.

What would you be missing then? Alfas depreciate quickly, this Alfa is a 1995-2003 model. When new I believe the 3.0 V6 cost about as much as a BMW 325 Ci. How much would one of those still be worth today?

Where I live, they never existed. There was a boom this year about importing them here in Québec. That's why I'm surprised. Some people sell them up to 15000$ in the same or a bit better condition.

Really? Interesting. I'll see what I can dig up in the classifieds on this shore. 15+ years old minimum, right?

The garage focusing on older Alfas located 5 minutes walk from my house has this '97 for €6750. 3.0 V6, 159k km. This business is probably overpriced, as they specialize in Alfas.

Kinja'd!!!

Besides E30 wagons to the US I could be shipping Alfas to Canada.

They are worth shit in Europe right now. Like the bottom end of the depreciation curve, and a lot of people wouldn't touch them with a ten foot pole, or somebody else's di... I can totally see picking one up at auction, shipping it to maple syrup land and getting a profit out the $7.5K.

Quite overpriced, here the cars have no more than 80000 km, which is great!

Another oppo user pointed the same thing about them being seriously inexpensive to buy in places that got them for sale like UK.

In the UK every second hand car is inexpensive, so that's not a very valid comparison. With their RHD shenanigans I doubt it's very interesting for most other countries to import from the UK either.

Apparently there aren't that many in Europe. At least not on this site . I've only included the 3.0 V6. They do tend to be cheaper than the one close to me.

They aren't bad cars! Just imagine a high mileage car with no service history. The timing belts have a relatively short interval, as do other components. They aren't your usual Camry that still (barely) runs after 100k miles with the same oil. They need a little TLC every here and then. Sadly, they have a tendency to end up with 3rd and 4th owners who can barely afford the car or even the insurance, and then skimp on maintenance. It's a somehwat flashy, sporty looking coupe after all.

Low mileage cars with PERFECT service history are good cars, but they are rare. And they are starting to command slightly higher prices. A vehicle with no paperwork, mileage that is only indicated by the dash (huge industry messing with those here), and maybe even a little sign of its age here or there may be running good and showing no signs of needing any immediate repairs, yet they are dirt cheap.

Thirsty 3.0l engines don't do them any favours on the used market either.

That does look like a minty one, and they are really rather good for front drivers. I remember a big Old Top Gear comparo with one of these against a whole bunch of 90s coupes and this is the one they chose.

Also reminds me. I must pick up the 3.0l from one of these to swap into my 156.

This is reason enough to love this car. There simply wasn't a more beautiful engine in such a (relatively) affordable car at the time, nor has there been since.

Ooh dear, where abouts?

We've still got the 228, but the Alfa's my daily driver.

Kinja'd!!!

The Maserati is currently doorless, wingless and windscreenless. It was mid-resto when we moved house and we haven't got the facilities set up at the moment to do bodywork on more than one car at once. Here's its current state, albeit at the old house:

Go look at the bottom right of the engine pic. It's no big deal, but still.

Nice Alfa btw! I've had some love for them because of Gran Turismo 2. Good to see that the project is still on.

I think I might be a bit desensitised to rust. That wouldn't even register.

Still, if it's rusting there it might be rusting elsewhere. It's always good to check. If you can't do it yourself rustwork can be expensive, just because it's time consuming.

If you're wondering where to look on these, the inside of the wheelarch where the liner rubs on the paintwork is one place they can start. The other is on the sill just by the jacking points. I've had to do a bit of work on mine there as some monkey of a mechanic jacked it on the sill right next to the jacking point, but not actually on it, buckling the metal and breaking the rustproofing.
