No.

John Mayer's musical skills outweigh his douchiness,

Short answer: Yes.

Long answer: You actually like his voice? He sounds like a Dave Matthews ripoff...

Ima gonna listen to Tom Petty now...

his voice isnt exactly amazing or anything, but hes an excellent guitar player and he writes a few good songs every once in awhile. And you cant go wrong when Jeff Beck calls you the new Eric Clapton...and when Eric Clapton calls you the new Eric Clapton

I winced heavily when he started to sing. Yuck, sorry but IMO yes.

I can't stand john mayer when he opens his trap. Great guitarist though.

EDIT* I will also add that, despite it likely being due to sponsorship, he plays a Martin. I'm no fan of Martins, so my respect-o-meter decreases a bit for that. Just like guys who plays Gibsons because the big rock guys used em.

That's also just personal preference though, at least he isn't playing a Taylor.

He's fucking asshat, d bag to powers of magnitude that defy recording. But I really hate him because, DAMN CAN HE PLAY A GUITAR! Holy hand grenades, I saw him in concert, and it was astounding. He played one song one handed. Let that sink in for a second, he was was playing the damn thing one handed. Of course he also reminded me of Joe Cocker from the Eagles; you can really tell that the singing part is really hard work for him. He really works hard to make his voice keep up. I can't stand him as a person, but as guitar playing meat popsicle, he really is "some next level shit."

In other words, yeah, I'm jealous as all get out.

Yeah ive heard that he does crazy things on guitar at his concerts, which kinda outweigh his presonality.

It's wrong that you like the original in the first place.

So in other words, he'd be much better writing songs for someone else to sing.

Or needs a better vocalist. Remember that Eric Clapton could actually sing. He has a nice quality tenor/lyric baritone range.

Jack white is probably better than Mayer, but he I personally would consider him as being more "mainstreamrock" than pop. And "Blunderbuss was simply amazing!

its not that he needs to write for other people, he actually has a pretty kickass voice when he sings live. and i think his voice sounds nice when paired with his guitar playing

I personally wouldn't consider Muse as a "pop group" Matt Bellamy is definitely one of, if not THE best guitarist in modern music. I love muse and I cant believe I never saw that video! Thanks!!!

I love John Mayer. I'll say it, and I'll also apologize for it. He's so damn good/bad that I can't help myself. People need angsty love music, so don't hate. But if we're being honest, Battle Studies has some phenomenal tracks.

Wait he drives a 599? I always had him as a kind of...well actually since that country album which was a giant pile of steaming horseshit, I pretty much assumed he hated cars.
