"PatBateman" (PatBateman)

The guy who showed it to me wouldn't send the photo, as it hasn't been seen by the public yet (he works for Mazda). I know that this fact alone sets me up for some friendly SR20 jabs, but it's nothing I can change. Verdict?
If they come out with anything close to it (and Mazda does a pretty good job at staying close to the concepts for their production vehicles), you'll want to buy it as soon as it hits the showroom floor. IT'S HAWT.

You should have stolen his phone, ran to the nearest closet or bathroom, locked yourself in, and posted it to oppo

SR20 or GTFO.
J/K
So was this just a design drawing or an actual concept car that's going to be shown at an auto show within the next year?

I am sending you to the nearest police sketch artist. Not this one though

He showed it to me on his phone, then put it back in his pocket. I asked if he could go ahead and text it to me, he just smiled and shook his head.
If I had known it was that secretive before he put it back in his pocket, I would have grabbed it.

It wasn't a drawing. It was a professional photo, which leads me to believe that it might be something that is put on display during auto show season.

It looked sort of like a very aggressive 6 coupe. Similar curves, but was different enough to ensure the public knew the difference between the two cars. I will clarify that it looked SIGNIFICANTLY MEANER than the 6.

I think the 6 has alot of aggressive features. This sounds ok with me!

Also, here is my rendering of the vehicle. Notice the lines, the unique wheels, and the overall flow of the RX-9.

Possibly lower. It has flared fenders.

Didn't the new CEO just recently say he saw no point in continued development of the rotary?

Who said anything about rotary?

Any other details? Rotary or conventional setup?

If they make an RX that isn't a rotary, I know of at least one sternly worded letter and accompanying brick that will find it's way into MNAO's window. (Mazda HQ is too far away, and we all know what happened last time we took the fight to Japan)

I agree an RX without a rotary would be heresy, but who knows what kind of awesome could find its way in there...

I don't care what kind of awesome is in it, unless it's powered by Dorito's, it's not an RX.

A lightweight, RWD, manual coupe with a 300hp version of the 2.3T hopefully?

No other details were given. He knows that I post here, and he knows I would post any details that he would give up.

I hope they do make it. I hope it isnt a rotary. "The Dart isnt a real Dart because it isnt a V8." The new Cherokee has power windows. That's not a real Jeep."
Maybe if they use a non-rotary engine they will sell some. Rotary engines scare off a lot of people. If Mazda is willing to make a bigger more powerful Miata, I'm all for it. Practically, I probably couldn't buy one anyway because baby and snow. I bet a lot more people would be willing to buy a turbo 4 than a rotary, though.

Then make a Mazdaspeed MX5 with a turbo 4 in it. Or start a new namesake. Or make a Mazda6 coupe. There's plenty of other options that would make more sense.

I mean considering the RX in the past have made done with 1.3s...
They'll never make the Miata a legit sports car. This has the possibility to. But they're not gonna drop a monster engine in it. They shouldn't.

somewhere in the 1.9-2.0 range would be expected, RX does stand for rotary experimental
