I'm looking to get more power out of my 2008 Mustang V6. without forced inuction. (Cant afford) So besides a tuner, CAI and dual exhaust. Do I have many more options?

(Pictures of my can and intake.)

I'm just going to throw this out there but you could get "more power" by removing things you don't need such as the interior. I don't know what you do with the car so if you use the interior (back seats, etc) then you're out of luck with this option.

I don't think you do. The V6s aren't the hottest platforms for performance builds without superchargers.

Cams - anyone offer them for the 6?
Headers - unless you were including that with exhaust.

What type of fast do you want? Brakes, suspension, sway bars, strut braces, tires.

Don't take offense to this, but

You have a V6 which started out as a 2.8 OHV, was bumped to a 4.0 OHV, then retrofitted with SOHC heads. All of this, from a ford ranger/explorer. If you really want a power bump, go buy a V8

Besides doing the little bullshit mods like underdrives, a throttle body, and what you listed, your only other option is forced induction. Which will bring you up to like stock V8 power levels, which brings us back to my first suggestion.

Headers are an option, but I would lose torque.

I just want to pick up a little more speed out of my car. Its my DD.

As for the cams I have no idea on if ANYONE makes them.

Personally I'd get springs and sways for it, and get one of those $30 front strut tower braces off eBay. It will change the dynamic of that car a hell of a lot more than 12hp from putting a CAI in it.

None taken I know this is a little shitbox engine. I am looking into getting a '03-'04 Mach 1 If the price is right.

Though when it has the 93oct tune in it it has decent power....and by decent I mean it does the 1/4 in 15sec @ 91mph.....

I'd definitely go for losing some weight (the car, not you of course).

There's loads of little bits you can remove, which all add up.. Alloy brake calipers can be around 5kg lighter a pop (plus, you get better brakes). Lightweight alloy wheels can be a couple of kilos lighter each as well, maybe more depending on how much the stock ones weigh. If you can get fibreglass bonnets those can be as much as 20kg lighter. Lightweight batteries can be 10kg lighter or so as well.

That v6 is well known to be kind of gutless. You could easily sell your stang for 10 grand depending on it's condition, and for a few grand more buy one with a 3v 4.6. The 3v 4.6 is fully capable of making 300 hp at the wheels NA (with just a higher octane tune) and handles boost very reliably up to 450 whp. Also makes a real nice sound with a non restrictive exhaust.

By the way, I like the stripe and wheels on yours. Looks real nice. Which grey is that? Tungsten?

the mach 1 already makes more power on a lighter (albeit older) platform, and its really easy to get a bolt on/ geared mach 1 deep into the 12's.

Well it IS for sale if you want a good DD. and is the the 4.6 in the 05-10 stangs?

Vapor Silver is the color

Ya it might be older but put up to a stock terminator its only a second off with a stock engine.

I have my eye on a few Mach 1's and problems I should be wary of?

It's not adding horsepower, but have you considered changing the gears in the rear-end? Swapping in some higher ratio gears would help acceleration.

Needs to be DDable, but I have thought about it

3.73 or 4.10 gears would still be very usable daily, though if you do mostly highway driving you would probably want to go with the 3.73s. With both, you'll get better acceleration with a slight loss in MPG. Both would raise your rpm at a given speed, but nothing crazy.

Its a truck motor plain and simple. Technically its a pancake of an engine, however it can be worked over, some have and are getting decent results. All it takes is cubic dollars. The 3v is a sweet engine in that body, it can definitively bunch above its weight, the 3v that is. The 4.0L is a secretary's special, even the transmission unless auto is not designed to hold more than about 300whp... it also probably has the wimpy 7.5inch rear as well. The 3v with fi alone can be pushed into the 400-450whp territory without much degradation of engine life. However the 3v when fully worked is good for 1000whp or more depending on how much cash you throw at it.

However there are ways to make a car go faster without adding or subtracting parts, its called a driver mod. Either sell this one and buy a v8 or a 2011+ v6 or learn to be happy with what you have, money spent on speed aftermarket is way higher in price than from factory.

I'm looking to upgrade cause I can afford to right now, this was my first car and I would hate to part with it, but I need something to go faster and be a little bit funer to drive

Long tube headers (I suggest PaceSetter 70-3236) and at least a 4.10:1 gear if not higher (numerically). You won't notice the difference in overdrive with the gear but you'll definitely notice the torque increase, and the long tubes will help you in the top end. Should really wake the car up.

As an addition to what you have listed, slap a small 75 shot nitrous kit on it and a set of gears.

The guys here can probably help you out and they'll know what works best. - V6 Mustangs

Personally, if you're going for more oomph, I'd suggest bigger brakes, and some wider rubber for the rear. you know, gotta manage it!
